Personally, I'd rather see Gilmore Girls in 4x3 but I can live with the empty space of the sides of the frames. It beats the hell out of cropping it to achieve 16x9.
I have no interest in owning The Flash but yeah, it's definitely got a fanbase and sci-fi/horror fans still buy discs so it's not hard to see why Warners is putting it out.
I could be totally wrong but when you factor what's already in the pipeline, I'd be surprised if titles that they started working on when he came back are released by the spring or summer 2022.
I'm thinking positive and saying that someone- I don't care if it's Warner or Criterion or even the distant long shot of Shout- but someone is releasing that around October this year.
I don't know the specific rumor but I could see Criterion releasing I Walked With A Zombie since it's the most prestigious of the remaining Lewton movies and it's a real long shot but maybe The 7th Victim too. That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if those two and The Ghost Ship and Bedlam...
I've seen that picture before but can't find it now. However, I did find a picture of a marquee with Disco Sex which promises to "Pick up where Saturday Night Fever left off". :)
This guy's Flickr has a bunch of pictures of old marquees (alot of The Deuce/porn and grindhouse stuff but a number...
Like I said in my other post, Warners wouldn't have to pay licensing fees like Shout had to so I think that would make more than enough of a difference that Warners would make money from most or all of the Lewton movies. Especially if other titles they release are presumably making a profit for...
That must be the case but I'd think part of the problem there was that Shout had to spend money to license them (which obviously isn't a factor for Warner Archives) but I still can't believe that a fair number of the Warner Archive titles outsell some of the remaining Lewton titles. In no way do...
This isn't meant to be a "Why aren't they releasing what I want?" post but I do wonder if alot of these titles (not this month in particular- just speaking broadly) would sell better than some of the unreleased Val Lewton titles. Maybe I'm overestimating them but I'd think that I Walked With A...
With the popularity of slasher movies and that horror fans still buy Blu-rays, I'm shocked He Know You're Alone hasn't been released by Warners yet. Hopefully, Scream Factory has gotten he rights because if not, it'll be until at least next September or October for WA to put it out.
I've had someone in their 20's tell me that they like the current SW sequels but they don't think they've even seen the originals and have no interest in seeing them.
I always point out that it's not like the average young person in the 1950's cared about silent movies or big band music. Kids...
Yep. Twenty years ago, I'm sure people said "I only want to buy magazines. Why should I have to be on the internet to get information about <x, y or z>?" It's also worth noting that people are putting alot more information at risk by simply shopping on the internet than by being on Facebook.
