^ Just a guess but I'd say that they used 35mm prints rather than the 35mm negatives. Even if the DVDs came from the negatives, the Blu-rays have to be new transfers because the DVDs weren't from HD masters.

Never say never but I don't think it shouldn't be a problem. I've seen modern TV shows with 6 hour long episodes (or a little over 4 hours of content) per disc. If they have about the same amount of time for The Dick Van Dyke Show, it should be OK. Especially when Dick Van Dyke will only have a...
