    Lost: Season Six

With the passage of time, I do think the smoke monster is one of the weaker answers to the long running mysteries (in earlier seasons, it seems much more like an automated thing rather than in the second half of the series when it was Christian/Man In The Black) but personally, I really liked...

The answer for that one is obvious- a big mistake in the writing :) which was pretty quickly and definitively rectified by burying them alive.

As suggested in another thread, I've resurrected this thread for the folks who feel that Lost didn't answer its questions to ask their questions and have them answered here.

Ms. Hawking is one of the very few elements of the series that I think either wasn't firmly set in the producers' minds when she was first introduced or that morphed somewhat significantly over time. In her first episode in S3, she has a very mystical quality about her (she knows that a random...

    Lost: Season Six

It probably sounds weird but, for me, part of the fun of watching Lost as it aired was not being able to immediately see what came next. Plus, it was always fun BSing with friends (in the real world and online) about what might happen next.

    Lost: Season Six

The darkness in Sayid came from his being submerged in the clouded springs of The Temple (the springs were polluted due to Jacob's death). As you said, it was a growing darkness (not an instant darkness) so he became more 'evil' and emotionally disconnected as the darkness progressed. When it...

    Lost: Season Six

That's how I feel about questions like how does the source (the heart of the island/the light) work or who was on the island before Jacob and the Man In Black's Mother got there. I know I've seen Lindelof compare those type of questions to the midi-chlorians in The Phantom Menace where some...

Ron, to me, that quote basically reads as them saying that use science as a base (magnets used to help paralyzed people or the physics of time travel) and then they go their own fantastic way but I think people have inadevrtantly taken quotes out of context or misinterpreted them (especially...

    Lost: Season Six

The writer in the link that you provide also acknowledges that he has no direct quote of the writers saying that there would be a scientific explantion so I think it's just internet urban legend (it's been said so much that it's become true). Just looking at the first few episodes, there's a...

    Lost: Season Six

Exactly. I'm not saying that everyone has to be a dork like me and know the show inside and out but at the same time, it's not the show's fault that people can't remember or can't connect the pieces themselves.

Speaking of odometers, I was in my friend's car the other day and the mileage read 108,815 so I made sure to note the reference to her. If there's anything that gets a chick hotter than a Lost reference, I have yet to find it. (Man, I make Lost references and I call women 'chicks', how do I not...

Too many occurrences? There's so many numbers that they are bound to occur alot. I can find some of the numbers on this page right now- this is page 62 of this thread or 6 + 2= 8, it's September 4, add up the individual numbers of my post count (14,370) and it adds up to 15. It's just dumb...

    Lost: Season Six

Beyond random chance, how can there be an explanation for the numbers? It's like Kate's mom interacting with Sawyer in a flashback or Jack being the doctor that let Shannon's dad die, it just happened. Or, if you're inclined to look at it from a Locke-ian POV, it was the hand of fate or Jacob or...

    Lost: Season Six

How could they have answered why   Walt was special years ago? S6 revealed why the characters were brought to the island in the first place and that plays directly into Walt was special. I guess they could have had some laughably unnatural and out of place dialogue where someone brought...

    Lost: Season Six

I might check out a few of the new shows on network TV but, based only on commercials and buzz, there isn't really anything that has me all that interested this year.

^ According to the Best Buy ad, the bonus disc is with the S6 set (and not the series set) and it runs 20 minutes. My guess is that it's just like the previous bonus discs and will have a couple of featurettes and maybe a few deleted scenes and an easter egg.

    Lost: Season Six

^ The flash sideways was a reality created by the group so that's what it was imagined to be. That being said, I would assume the real world answer is that the writers wanted to throw people off the trail (and I'm glad they did it so I was surprised at the end).

    Lost: Season Six

The episodes with commentaries are LA X (I don't know if it's both parts or one of them), Dr. Linus, Ab Aeterno and Across The Sea. I never listened to it but Michael Emerson did a commentary that was on the ABC site for Dr. Linus so I imagine that's the same one. And on a podcast, Lindelof...

    Lost: Season Six

I bet if I look at posts anywhere on the internet after the finale aired, the vast majority of people who said it was purgatory all cited the plane wreckage over the end credits to back up their theory. The only problem is that that footage is not part of the show in any way, shape or form so...

    Lost: Season Six

Yeah but the people who say that the whole show was purgatory will say that scene was part of purgatory too.

    Lost: Season Six

I'm assuming that's the same post from someone claiming to be employed by the show from a few pages back? I basically agree with his interpretation but I think this is just a fan who thinks that's what the writers intended so it's fine for him to pretend that he worked there because his...

    Lost: Season Six

I don't know what was cut (if anything) but I think it was only a couple minutes shorter than the original airing. The commercial breaks were shortened to a minute or two rather than cutting out 30 minutes of actual content. Unbelieavbly, it was like a network was actually more concerned with...

    Lost: Season Six

This is just my opinion but I don't think Jacob had anything to do with the purge one way or the other and Widmore (as the leader of The Others) made the call to kill them. While Jacob gave orders to The Others via Richard, I think he wanted to observe the people on the island rather than...

    Lost: Season Six

I completely agree that they deliberately tricked the audience by showing the sunken island at the beginning of the season but I'm glad they did it. Without the sunken island, I think people would have started speculating that it was 'the other side' a few episodes in and I was much happier...

    Lost: Season Six

I don't know what to tell you but that's the reason that I've seen cited by multiple people involved with the show. Budget probably has little or no impact on it because it's not like they wouldn't have made another episode if they didn't do the Nikki and Paulo one. And at that point, I don't...

    Lost: Season Six

I think that scene is less about the reveal of who the Oceanic 6 were and more about the emotion of Jack meeting up with his mom, Hurley seeing his parents and Kate having no one but Aaron, etc.

    Lost: Season Six

If (and it's a big if) they talk about the show when the DVDs are released, do you really think they're going to definitively say what they intended with the ending? Maybe someday they will say what they intended but I wouldn't expect it in under three months. What would be the point of letting...

    Lost: Season Six

For better or worse, you're never going to get that because they (wisely IMO) don't want to dictate what the ending means so viewers can come to their own conclusions. That being said, I definitely think they survived the crash.
