I'm inclined to agree but I do see what others are saying since it would be cheaper if the Connerys were all together. However, MGM is a business so they aren't looking for a way to give out discounts to people.
Nobody did but no one has to buy the box sets if they don't want to either. Like Sam said, they split the Connery movies up in box set form to sell the less popular movies but at least you don't have to spend the extra money (even if it's not that much more money than the singles) on something...
I know it was a while back but I thought they had planned to release the movies by themselves too. The only reason I remember that is because I just assumed that they'd release them in sets at first (like every DVD release).
Has making it look better ever removed detail from the picture? That's what is happening when they remove all the grain and why everyone has (or should have) a problem with it.
