The original DVD's transfer was supervised by Jacques Haitkin. The Infinifilm disc is different but I don't think it's bad. That being said, Haitkin knows better than me.
There's no difference between this release and every other one with a slipcase. It's not an exclusive and you'll be able to find copies with it for months.
The slipcase has a hole for the UPC to be scanned. I got my copy from Amazon with the slipcase and saw copies at Best Buy and Borders with the slipcases so I'd say it's available everywhere and probably will be for months.
I didn't see it but that's what I figured it would be. I was going to check it out but I didn't want to spend $9.50 on a ticket when I'm going to spend around $20 on the DVD in five days (plus it's the fourth time that I'm buying the movie- VHS, LD, first DVD) but now that I didn't, I feel like...
I wouldn't get my hopes up. If I remember correctly, the uncut stuff on the laserdisc release looked really rough and didn't even have audio so it isn't going to be reintegrated into the movie.
