Since Affleck was there for the Chasing Amy Q+A and participated in the Mallrats doc, it doesn't seem like he avoids the movie or Q+A's. So maybe he was shooting a movie or was hanging out with Jennifer Garner, etc. :)
You've convinced me. He shouldn't have tried to expand as a writer and director and never should have written a movie from the heart. This discussion belongs in a Jersey Girl thread anyways.
Bob- If it were me, after three tries I would contact Universal and explain the situation. You may have to send the disc to them but they can probably get you another functioning copy. The copy may be from a different manufacturing run that is free of the error. Hopefully the more they hear...
I watched EVERYTHING on the disc and I didn't have a problem. I even borrowed my friend's copy (and watched ALL of it again) just to see if that copy might have a problem on my player. Both copies played without any flaws though. This is what's unfortunate about Universal's DVD-18s. You have...
While it was hardly a blockbuster, Jersey Girl wasn't a flop either. And most importantly, Jersey Girl was a good movie (and his best movie next to Chasing Amy). :)
I just finished watching the extended version and while some scenes are longer than they should be (according to the intro, they took the shooting script and gave you the full thing without any edits), I have to say the re-edit is pretty good. I'm definitely a less is more type of guy and was...
Aren't edits on commentary tracks like that because of possible legal ramifications? I'm not asking what was said, just if that something that worried a lawyer was said during those edited bits. :)
I think it's funny that the cover is the first mention of Mallrats on this page:) At the risk of sounding negative, I don't know if Mallrats needs to run over 2 hours. Either way, both versions are on there so I can't complain!
Amen! :) I love all of KS's work but Chasing Amy is my fave. Vincent, hopefully I'm not bringing up bad memories here but weren't you trying to do a horror movie at one point?
I may be wrong but I think the new cut only exists on video (or in other words, there is no actual print of the new cut) so the Arclight screening would have been the theatrical cut. Like I said though, I could be wrong.:)
It's been awhile since I've seen the original opening but I remember thinking "I can understand why this was cut." There was some really funny stuff but there was also some stuff that didn't work too. Maybe re-edited it'll work better (for me anyway) and the original cut is on there too so the...
