Meh, I'd say no. You'd have to put tape over the vacant tab to record over a cassette, and even then you can save some of the song if you change your mind partway and hit stop. Files on a drive can be deleted or corrupted in a split second, it's gone entirely and who knows if you get it back.

Also undesirable from the pro-physical media perspective. A USB drive is physical in the sense you can hold the device, but it's not a write-once hard copy. DVDs and BDs are permanent recordings. USB drives are soft copies, much more similar to digital downloads which are not preferred by some...
