Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

Either these are the most obvious set of prerelease announcement clues in the history of the 3D Film Archive, or else it's their biggest "Gotcha!" ever!! ;) Kidding aside, I sure wish I had some spare funds, these days! I just finally got around to finish viewing the first season of THE ABBOTT...

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

Oh, I've seen good things from MPI, and I know 4x3 Black & White and lossy mono audio does make some difference. I was thinking of the Mill Creek Black & White Three Stooges Movie volumes from about 7 years back, in which each of the two DVDs had running times that slightly exceeded 240...

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

This actually seems way beyond tight, given we used to complain about Mill Creek cramming anything more than eight 25 minute episodes on a single DVD. However, as I've been somewhat out of the loop these past few years, has DVD compression improved that much to allow for well over 240 minutes of...

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

I'd love to see this series on Blu-ray, complete with the three instances of music replacement rectified; plus the cinematically released "Munster, Go Home! (1966)," of course! :) CHEERS! :)

Upon "The Adventures Of Ozzie & Harriet" official release announcement, I'm sure Neil will be! :) CHEERS! :)

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

I wish I could find "The Abbott & Costello Movie" bumpers complete with old-timey piano music that used to air Sunday mornings on WXYZ-TV Detroit in the late 1970s to early 1980s! CHEERS! :)

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

BUT, there is also that post in another thread by Bob Furmanek strongly hinting towards their latest restoration project being "The Abbott & Costello Show" with a still from that series! I guess we'll just have to wait and see, as Bob himself is sometimes want to say! CHEERS! :)

Hopefully, I DREAM OF JEANNIE has been restored to it's original run presentation, with original season credits, theme music, et al! CHEERS! :)

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

If it's the one many of us are thinking, it's been technically released on DVD, just never in entire seasons. CHEERS! :)

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

Last time we still subscribed (We dropped Netflix in July), there were some TV series that dated back to the 1990s, and Movies dating back to the 1950s. Other than that, mostly pretty current stuff. CHEERS! :)

And Netflix Canada doesn't even have those! :( CHEERS! :)

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

Though presumably interested enough to demand that any episodes be taken down from YouTube. What a shame! CHEERS! :)

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

If it's priced reasonably on Amazon Canada, I might go for this! Heck, I might even do the tandem pairing with THE HONEYMOONERS just for fun! CHEERS! :)

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

Another common obstacle these days is with PVR setups, such as what we have, is the ability to transfer programs to physical media is often defeated by the signal. Over the air is a really poor option where we live, as we've never had very good reception, which we experienced first hand through...

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

Hi Ron! I first heard Robert Israel's work on his score for the 1925 version of THE WIZARD OF OZ that was included on a 3 DVD 2005 release of THE WIZARD OF OZ (1939 version) set, and found it to be top notch! Unfortunately, our current Cable Service provider does not offer TCM. Even if they...

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

Hi Neil! I've often noticed this with syndicated crime shows. Some of the A&E LAW AND ORDER presentations that I viewed some years back sounded (And at times, also looked!) like they suffered from 10% speed up (YEECH!), and yet some people apparently preferred that to having scenes edited out...

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

Hi Ron! Both, actually. Some of the later 1928 and all of the 1929 Laurel & Hardy silents included RCA Victor Music & Effects tracks (Some of which are considered lost!) that were on 16 inch Records. While I unfortunately haven't been able to hear the "new" soundtracks, I know from my...

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

In my case, I have an Acer PC Laptop with an onboard DVD Burner, plus an external Pioneer Blu-ray Burner which I have set to Region 2 for European DVDs, even though my UK Universal SONS OF THE DESERT Laurel & Hardy DVD is the only one in my collection that requires this setting! There simply...

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

A 'silly' gripe of mine regarding the PAL format in general is the inevitable 4% speedup, although I'll tolerate it if I'm desperate enough. Sure, playback software, such as VLC Player will allow for 4% slowdown, but my one attempt at this produced rather shabby audio playback results, after...

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

While the Black & White seasons of BEWITCHED and I DREAM OF JEANNIE have enjoyed "Black & White" DVD releases by Sony and more recently by Mill Creek Entertainment, these were merely taken from their Colorized "masters", complete with the superimposed CPT (Columbia Pictures Television) Holdings...

Dick Kallman was murdered, according to Wikipedia and Imdb, the latter source which indicates his business associate was also killed during a robbery! How sad! :(

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

Hi Lou! I'm really glad that I have the 2010 DVD Release, which has superior packaging, plus it also includes a 44 Page Booklet, which appears to be absent from the 2015 DVD Issue! What's more? This set cost me less than $40 Canadian at our local Wal-Mart! Why reissue this in inferior...

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

After seeing a number of posts mentioning GRINDL as one of the all time worst sitcoms, I couldn't help but wonder why no one was asking for clarification regarding what the letters stood for, assuming it was an abbreviation. Then, I decide to google it and of course, discover this was the...
