I remember hearing the same thing about MR. ED, that many of the episodes were lost in the MGM Grand Hotel fire in 1980. Time has proven that totally false! CHEERS! :)

At 14 seasons and 435 episodes, I can only surmise MPI is aiming to keep the total disc count and price point as low as is feasible. Hopefully, they're as good at maintaining all around good quality with extra compressed encoding as the Warner Archive has been reported as being for a number of...

To be fair, Elvis Presley was inducted into the army in March 1958, and RIO BRAVO (1959) was shot that summer. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rio_Bravo_(film)#Production As it was, Elvis had already been granted a 60 day deferment in December 1957, so he could shoot his scenes for King Creole...

Season 2 also indicates 39 COMPLETE EPISODES! 5 or 6 DVDs per season would be preferable to 4 for sure, though! :) CHEERS! :)
  5. Tony Bensley

    Ozzie & Harriet

Thanks, Bob! I had forgotten about that option on DVDs. :) CHEERS! :)
  6. Tony Bensley

    Ozzie & Harriet

I'm thinking that would work with Blu-ray, but probably not with the DVD format. This seems pretty iffy to me, especially in the DVD format! Chapter stops are probably the most viable option for DVD, in the event commercials and bumpers are included in each episode! CHEERS! :)

I'm sure this certain person will have a rebuttal ready. :D CHEERS! :)

While I've never participated in one, it seems to me that Kickstarters by their nature, aren't guaranteed to reap any returns. You pay your money and take your chances. That said, what a shame this one has never beared any fruit! :(

    Ozzie & Harriet

It just kind of petered out over time is the short answer. The long one is somewhat more complicated. No impending releases to date, or anything in the foreseeable future, if at all, is the sad bottom line. :( CHEERS! :)

Kidding aside, perhaps it could be that at this stage, Sam has seen the writing on the wall, and there's little more that he can do? Without having the full benefit of knowing just how much he had/has accomplished behind the scenes in regards to restorations, I cannot judge Mr. Nelson in that...

    Ozzie & Harriet

That's very sad news, regarding OZZIE'S GIRLS! So, quite possibly, its post pilot episodes are completely non extant? Perhaps, at some point, I'll look into getting more of the Mill Creek Public Domain material, as any proper release of THE ADVENTURES OF OZZIE AND HARRIET Season sets don't...

    Ozzie & Harriet

OK, I do now remember reading that a ways back in this thread. I do think a number of early Television shows fall into this category of never having been copyrighted. Perhaps a "Who will even want to see these shows in 20 years?" mentality came into play? CHEERS! :)

    Ozzie & Harriet

On a somewhat brighter note, I happened to catch a bit of news that Matthew and Gunnar Nelson either are, or did some recent recording with Wilson-Phillips. CHEERS! :)
  14. Tony Bensley

    Ozzie & Harriet

That baffles me too, Ron! It's not like Ozzie Nelson was a dolt when it came business matters, either! Quite the opposite, in fact! It was at his urging that his son Rick signed a 20 year recording contract one year before the British Invasion hit. Ozzie obviously knew that Rick wouldn't...

    Ozzie & Harriet

You actually bring up a very good point, Matthew! While THE ADVENTURES OF OZZIE AND HARRIET might be Public Domain as a series, what of the episodes that feature Ricky Nelson's performances? Doesn't the Nelson estate have some claim to those (Though Rick didn't actually write any of them!)...

    Ozzie & Harriet

I neglected to mention that I do also have the official DVD of Ricky Nelson's O&H Musical Performances! Great Disc! CHEERS! :)
  17. Tony Bensley

    Ozzie & Harriet

I love the episodes in which Ozzie (And sometimes Harriet!) get to sing! My favorite among these is from the "Cruise For Harriet" episode (A must view, even for the casual O&H Fan, in my opinion!), in which they perform two songs together! CHEERS! :)
  18. Tony Bensley

    Ozzie & Harriet

I gave "Cruise For Harriet" a fresh viewing last night. Despite a few rough spots visually, I find this a most enjoyable episode with plenty of amusingly awkward situations for Ozzie. It's too bad the Digiview Transfer is totally lacking in End Credits, with the screen briefly going green...

    Ozzie & Harriet

Hi Howie! Of course upon checking the list, I immediately spotted "A Cruise For Harriet," which I have a g*dawful (Yes, even by PD standards, it is rather abysmal!) copy of from a Grade Z DVD by Digiview Productions (This has two additional O&H Episodes, one of which "Bedtime Story," is also...

    Ozzie & Harriet

Hi Bill! For myself, I'm thinking that between already having a decent enough sampling of O&H, and with my eye on a number of other titles, I can hold off on purchasing any more for the time being! Besides, without an Episode List, there is also the danger of partial double dipping for what...

Though I unfortunately missed out on the 100 Episode Mill Creek Set, I do currently have all 3 Shout Factory Sets (Including the Christmas Episodes DVD!), along with the Mill Creek 38 Episode Set! Speaking of Mill Creek, when rechecking for the 100 Episode DVD Set, I did stumble onto the...

    Ozzie & Harriet

Perhaps it's time to re-shift the focus to Sam Nelson's recent statement that there are now enough restored episodes for an Official Release! In my opinion, this can only be a good thing, whatever flavor ('Triple Banana Surprise' springs to mind! ;) ) such a Release may take! :) CHEERS! :)
  23. Tony Bensley

    Ozzie & Harriet

Hi Tooncy! Actually, I recall when Rick Nelson Hosted Saturday Night Live in the 1970's (I do remember catching that bit when originally broadcast!), he quipped that for those at home who wanted to remember him as he was on THE ADVENTURES OF OZZIE AND HARRIET (Or something to that effect!), to...
  24. Tony Bensley

    Ozzie & Harriet

Hi Howie! If so, that would explain a lot, in terms of inaction to secure copyright on Ozzie Nelson's part! CHEERS! :) Tony
  25. Tony Bensley

    Ozzie & Harriet

Perhaps this is just a shot in the dark, but does anyone know whether THE ADVENTURES OF OZZIE AND HARRIET Radio Series was ever copyrighted? CHEERS! :)
  26. Tony Bensley

    Ozzie & Harriet

Hi John! That is even more incredibly shocking! How could Ozzie have so missed the boat regarding copyright when he was so shrewd in other areas? To illustrate this, I'll note briefly what I recall having read and heard in regards to Rick Nelson's recording career: Well aware that...

    Ozzie & Harriet

Hi John! As another example of a Title adversely affected by "PD Glut Syndrome", it has taken decades just to get a decent version of Laurel & Hardy's THE FLYING DEUCES (Blu-ray issued by VCI Entertainment, just last month!), that isn't also affected by the 4% speedup that's associated with...
  28. Tony Bensley

    Ozzie & Harriet

Hi jimmyjet! Without going into too much depth, I agree that a revision of the public domain concept would be helpful! Over the years, there have been many not unpopular Titles that either still don't have decent print transfers issued, or else were delayed for many years because of the glut...
