Only had time to watch the first episode on disc 1 last night and WOW! BIG upgrade over the SD-DVD's I own to my eyes. Very clean, clear, noticably more detail (some objects/clothing actualy have texture or a pattern which I have never noticed before), colors pop off the screen.....looks awesome...

You are right. There is a lot of info on top and bottom on the SD shots. I would say your previous post was on the money as far as creating these with widescreen in mind. On a side note, the BR looks MUCH better to my eyes going off these shots. Noticably crisper, cleaner, detail is more easily...

This makes sense and if true, the OAR for the first half is actualy debateable and maybe the BR is the way the first half is meant to be seen. Either way, tom cant come quick enough as I LOVE this show and cant wait to see it in HD and TrueHD is just an added (overkill no doubt) bonus.

I respect your decision, but I love this show too much to not get this BR season. The only other option if you want to own this season is to get the SD-DVD which will be OAR for the first half, but the second half will have the sides cut off. Either way there is compromise so if you are planning...
