With possible exception of hunting dogs, I never understood the purpose of getting a dog, only to keep it outside. Anyone have any thoughts on this? I have a Beagle, and he doesn't bark or howl that much. Then again, he's terribly spoiled, and has a sort-of cat-like attitude about him...
