Exactly my point and why I find this whole thing ridiculous.

If Sony paid Warner to go from neutral to Blu-ray only, the HD-DVD fans would be rabid much like the Blu-ray fans are now. Why so many people show so much loyalty to one corporation and are willing to serve as their foot soldiers baffles me. These companies couldn't care less about the...

That almost sounds like a Toshiba commercial. Oh well. Like all other fanboys on both sides you are now on my ignore list.

There's a real division going on now. Some people are perfectly happy buying two players and having HD remain a niche. Others want one player and HD to go mainstream. I'm the latter. The more mainstream HD discs become, the better chance of some of my favorite movies being released. You think it...

Agreed. I'm just going to stop buying HD media and stick with DVD. It looks pretty darn good upscaled on my Sony 50" A2000. Knowing how long Lucas and Spielberg waited with DVD before releasing their big films, the longer this war drags out the less likely that I'll be able to view my favorite...

And considering how long it took to get the Star Wars films on DVD, don't expect them anytime soon on either format.

Here's the quote: "Today’s announcement does not include films directed by Steven Spielberg as his films are not exclusive to either format." Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure Steven directed all of the Indy movies.

I stated it before and I'll say it again.... I will NEVER download a low birate, heavily compressed HD movie. I've been spoiled by high bitrate, 1080P video and uncompressed sound. Of course, the people that will download this crap are the same people that think 128kbs mp3 sounds just as good...

But "most people" will be enthusiasts like us. All J6P sees is two incompatible players that don't play every hi-def disc. Every article I read says something like this for instance... "The competition between Blu-ray and HD DVD has kept confused consumers from rushing to buy new DVD players...

Anybody else thinking that this pretty much seals the deal for both formats remaining niche products? Every mainstream article I read talks about how consumers are confused and are waiting things out. I think eventually they'll get tired of waiting for a winner and just continue choosing...
