I've said this many times: on TVs, especially higher-end models, always get the extended warranty if it is offered and backed by either the retailer or manufacturer - just make sure it is not a re-branded third-party service plan like Walmart's.

I'd call Assurion back and threaten to take them to court for not honoring their contract.
Or start over by going here. Walmart has been hit with class action lawsuits and a myriad of consumer complaints regarding Assurion, which is probably why they dropped them.
