By the way we watched a Ladybird last night. Agree pretty much with Mark.
Good film but not as good as I thought it would be. I haven’t seen Call Me By Your Name or Phantom thread so right now Ladybird is last among the BP nominees for me.
Ok. Here are my predictions for tonight’s Oscars
Picture: Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri
Director: Guillermo del Toro, The Shape of Water
Actor: Gary Oldman, Darkest Hour
Actress: Frances McDormand, Three Billboards
Supporting Actor: Sam Rockwell, Three Billboards
Supporting...
I’ll put up my predictions late tonight or early tomorrow.
And that’s exactly what my wife and I will do. Curl up with some food and wine and watch the show. Should be a fun distraction I hope.
Yeah we had to cancel our Oscar party too as I’ve been in the hospital since Wednesday caring for my sick mother.
My wife worked so hard preparing the menu, gifts, swag bags etc. Shes been a trooper. Told her we’ll save everything for next year.
Priorities. She’s feeling better so we’re...
Highly unlikely. According to the AMPAS It’s only happened six times in 90 years. However I count seven.*
And only twice for a major award (acting).
From various sources.
According to the AMPAs database, the first happened in 1931-32, when Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde‘s Frederic March and The...
The wife and I are also having our yearly Oscar Party. Very small with about 10 people but I give out gift cards to who predicts the winners and the wife gives out Swag bags to all the ladies.
Always a fun time.
Three Billboards pretty much swept the Baftas last night. It’s pretty much now the front runner to win the BP Oscar in two weeks.
Guillermo won Best Director and ditto for him to with that Oscar too.
I don’t think it’s been mentioned in this thread but the biggest disappointment regarding nominations for me is the omission of James McAvoy’s amazing performance in Split.
DGA Awards: Guillermo del Toro Wins Feature Award for ‘The Shape of Water
Guillermo Del Toro won the coveted DGA award tonight for Best Director which practically guarantees him a win at the Oscars.
From Variety
The DGA award is one of the top indicators of Oscar sentiment with all but seven...
Obviously I don’t know who’s going to win, so apologies if I came off annoying or arrogant.
Like I said I just base my predictions on the odds on favorites in each category based on previous guild wins/buzz/guesses etc. Nothing more.
Well I did claim LLL would definitely win last year and we all know how that turned out.
We should have some kind of contest this year. We have in the past and I actually won one year (22/24).
Ron??:)
