    Jaws 2 (1978)

Ya know I just rewatched that scene on the digital 4K version and I didn’t see the hydraulics. Perhaps it was edited out like the original Jaws was.

    Jaws 2 (1978)

People in my audience went nuts during that scene in 1978. Remember it vividly to this day.

Marc Gilpin who played Sean Brody has died at age 56 of glioblastoma. So sad. RIP https://deadline.com/2023/08/marc-gilpin-dead-jaws-2-child-actor-was-56-1235453043/

I tell her that all the time!!;)

    Jaws 2 (1978)

Every aspect of the film is a step down from Jaws. Especially the shark which doesn’t look anywhere near as good as Bruce.

    Jaws 2 (1978)

Watched it last night with the wife. She hated it. Said It was dumb and boring. I Still think it’s good fun.

I also though the acting was pretty decent especially Bess Armstrong.

    Jaws 2 (1978)

As I said in the other JAWS thread, The POV death scene from inside the sharks mouth. Terrific.

    Jaws 2 (1978)

Rewatched Jaws 2 recently and while of course it doesn’t hold a candle to Jaws, it’s fun and the best of the sequels with great production values and a great John Williams score.

    Jaws 2 (1978)

Jaws 3 is Casablanca compared to Jaws Revenge.

    Jaws 2 (1978)

I believe the only theme he reused was the shark theme. Everything else was new. It was his deliberate decision to do so. He discusses it on the Jaws 2 extras.

Back to Jaws 2...gotta say John Williams score is one of his best.

    Jaws 2 (1978)

That scene is tremendous and one of the best in the entire Jaws series. Too bad it’s in Jaws 3...which I too kinda like.

    Jaws 2 (1978)

I think the shark is a noticeable downgrade from Jaws. But still way better than Jaws 3 and Revenge!

    Jaws 2 (1978)

Although the shark unfortunately looks way more fake in Jaws 2.

    Jaws 2 (1978)

Heartbreaking to some. A sweet relief to others. [emoji6] And as noted, second unit shots are always used at the discretion of the director. What Alves said is quite normal. Perhaps it's the language barrier but you made it seem like Alves directed the entire scene as it is in the film and...

    Jaws 2 (1978)

And I think you are doing fine with "our" language Caesar. I remember seeing Jaws 2 in 78. There was such tremendous anticipation for the film. After it was over I think it's safe to say that while very enjoyable, most filmgoers didn't think that it was as good as the first. And it couldn't...

    Jaws 2 (1978)

To be clear. What beach scene are you referring to? The one you Linked to? As stated that was a second unit shot not used in the final film except for a few seconds. Far from Alves directing the whole sequence.

    Jaws 2 (1978)

A recent good shark film was the Australian film "Bait" in 3D. Lots of gory fun. A tsunami floods an underground supermarket and brings a white shark along for fun. [emoji33]

    Jaws 2 (1978)

There are plenty of good Jaws rip offs but I'm sticking strictly to "Shark" films.

    Jaws 2 (1978)

Jaws 2 is imo now the third best shark film. After Jaws and The Shallows. Maybe even fourth after Deep Blue Sea. [emoji6]

    Jaws 2 (1978)

Ha. Of course I'm Referring to all first unit shots. But you're right about stirring up trouble. These kind of statements always sucker someone into believing them sorta like conspiracy theories.
  28. Tino

    Jaws 2 (1978)

I agree. But saying that the entire beach scene was directed by Alves is untrue.

    Jaws 2 (1978)

And also Benchley didn't leave Jaws because he was never really part of it other than a cameo. He was indeed upset with the ending but here is how Spielberg explains it. Peter Benchley was not happy with Steven Spielberg's ending where the shark is killed when a compressed air tank explodes...

    Jaws 2 (1978)

Sorry but that hardly proof. All that article says it that Alves shot some second unit footage that was not used. Big difference. All the scenes in Jaws except the shark blowing up were filmed by Spielberg. From the article; "As relayed in the feature-length documentary The Shark is Still...
