OK, make your 2002 box office predictions! Spiderman, AOTC, HPATCOS, TTT...

Wow. TerryRL you had me at "No disrespect to TTT, but I think the movie that will garner the most Oscar attention will be "The Return of the King". All involved say it's the biggest and best film of the trilogy and probably the one most likely to win Peter Jackson the Best Director and Best...

Just returned from Gangs of New York and the theater was only about half-full while TTT, was packed. GONY will certainly not be for everyone. VERY VIOLENT, rough, and a little too long....but still a very good movie. MikeRS is correct in that it's Scorsese best film in a while. Definite...

Impressive totals for TTT. Don't think it will have the repeat business that FOTR had, but it will do fine. Eventhough I have some significant complaints with it, I still liked it and will see it again, in spite of my issues. I just like going to the theater and seeing these kinds of movies...

OK, make your 2002 box office predictions! Spiderman, AOTC, HPATCOS, TTT...

Matthew, I wasn't using box office dollars to gage the fantasy drought when I made that comment. I was merely stating my opinion and the opinions of co-workers and friends that we are all very excited about TTT. This kind of anticipation was similar when AOTC was about to open. No offense to...

OK, make your 2002 box office predictions! Spiderman, AOTC, HPATCOS, TTT...

Ok, 70 mill may be too high of a prediction. :b But the buzz seems high...at least at work, and among friends. No other movie this fall has been anticipated as much. So, I'll psychotically stand by the 70 mill prediction...:D

OK, make your 2002 box office predictions! Spiderman, AOTC, HPATCOS, TTT...

I think TTT will open close to 70 million. It's been a fantasy movie drought since AOTC left and I think it will be huge. Have no idea whether or not it will have strong legs, but it will open big.

I'm with you TerryRL on your points above. Just don't understand what a film needs to do these days...AOTC is still playing to 75% full crowds on weekends on the DLP screen here in Plano, TX. Anymore word about the IMAX release of Clones? I thought I read it may be in IMAX over labor day but...

OK, make your 2002 box office predictions! Spiderman, AOTC, HPATCOS, TTT...

If it's ok I'll just call it "having good legs" because AOTC could have easily petered out after MIB II, Goldmember, Sigs, XXX, Spy Kids 2 etc... and it didn't IN SPITE of losing theaters each week. The interest was still there and it did make it to 300 million. :)

"But Tim, if it's just you pushing AOTC's gross towards $300 million, you can't really say the audience for this film is getting any larger, can you? " Patrick, not sure what the intent of your statement is? AOTC's audience probably stopped growing maybe a month ago. I would say that most of...

"Man, it's gonna be close on AOTC. " Nah! Heck I will go see it as many times as it takes to get this baby over 300 million Terrell! :D At 26 times, I've already helped finance the first few minutes of Episode III shooting. :D

At the end of it's theatrical run, it really doesn't matter whether or not AOTC steamrolled or scraped it's way to 300 mill. Considering when it was about 150 million, there were discussions on whether or not it would indeed make it. Seems like AOTC did find it's steadiness and didn't peter out...

Approx. $600,000 for AOTC...and TerryRL is correct as it stands at $298,080. Can it get to $300 million?

With only about 600 theaters its looking doubtful that AOTC will get 6.5 million more to reach 300 million. What do you all think?

Hopefully with the upcoming holiday weekend AOTC will do good business again. It does seem to be holding up well despite losing more and more screens. Anyone know how many it will lose July 3?

Paul,  Me too! I am going again this week as my daughters are here for most of the summer. They are 10 & 8. We saw it twice together opening weekend but they haven't seen it since. Planning on taking them to the DLP showing later this week.

pretty good numbers for AOTC. Especially losing more screens this past weekend. Good numbers for Spidey too. My biggest surprise is Sum of All Fears. I read where it didn't exit poll very well but obviously it's getting good word of mouth.

Seth, Where are you getting your 500 mill figures from? The original Star Wars took in about 325 million with a re-release, then added about 130 million from the '97 SE. Total is around 460 million since 1977. ESB hasn't cracked the 300 million mark yet. Jedi is just over it. Neither of these...

AOTC is still filling them in at least that's true with the 2 DLP screens in Plano, TX. Each time I have gone it's been sold out or about 95% full. Last night and seeing it twice today also had full auditoriums. People are really wanting to see this movie digitally. Imagine if there were more...

I think you're right Matt. I remember when Empire came out...I was just finishing the 10th grade and went several times after the first few weeks of release and most of my friends and I would see people we knew had already seen it.
