I don't think anyone was talking about the past whereabouts of Kelly at the beginning of X2, but the whereabouts of Kelly during X2. The events of X2 took up at least a couple days, and a missing Senator would definitely start up a search.

As far as Storm goes, they could film two or three movies at the same time and have the Phoenix storyline go on for one or two movies and then make the second or third one a lot more about Storm, then kill her off. The last thing I want is a replacement for Storm, even if the replacement...
