    Unless I miss understand you, your posts are conflicting. On one hand, you say the golden/sepia version is the only way to view the film, then you say it reminds you of the South Pacific filters that you could do without.

    I agree but there are those who are put off by the golden sepia palette of the film because it's too "artsy" and the Technicolor is more lifelike even though it destroys the very surreal dreamlike quality that Huston intended.

    That's why the "golden" version works the best. It is a surreal dream of a film. The color version is too "realistic" and totally destroys the dream like quality of the film.

    Fantastic news! The "golden" version is the only way to go (it's Huston's intended version) but super glad the color version is also being included. Warners Archives is killing it today with these announcements and I'll be buying all but 1 of them (sorry Tin Cup). Two Robert Mitchum titles, one...
