Cheers - Complete List of Cuts and Music Replacements

Found this article someone posted over at Reddit... https://archive.vn/20120905211554/http://www.kodak.com/country/US/en/motion/newsletters/inCamera/oct2001/cheers.shtml So, Cheers did get the full TNG restoration, which may go toward explaining all the odd looking shots in what used to be the...

Cheers - Complete List of Cuts and Music Replacements

I'll take your word for it. I do remember South Pacific on Facts. Must've got 'em mixed up. Oh, and for another Cheers restoration, was the song in 11.02 supposed to be Miserlou or Wipeout, because Wipeout is what I heard.

Cheers - Complete List of Cuts and Music Replacements

That must've been the bit Rebecca sang of "I'm Going To Wash That Man Right Out Of My Hair" from South Pacific that was cut. Apparently, that must be a pricey get, since Shout wound up cutting that out of a Facts of Life episode when Tootie was auditioning for South Pacific. And Shout didn't...
  4. The Obsolete Man

Cheers - Complete List of Cuts and Music Replacements

Now, somebody said earlier in the thread that the show was edited on videotape in seasons 6-11. Perhaps when they did the HD remasters, depending on how they did the remastering, they forgot to do the dissolves in this one case? I mean, the show looks too good to be from a videotape master...
  5. The Obsolete Man

Cheers - Complete List of Cuts and Music Replacements

IIRC, the remasters were done in 2000ish, and debuted on Nick at Nite in late 2001. And given the fact that they still retain the final pre-2006 split Paramount logo and fanfare to this day, I'm betting that was the last time they were remastered. Still, they look great, both on DVD and HD...
  6. The Obsolete Man

Cheers - Complete List of Cuts and Music Replacements

Because I figure if it hasn't been fixed by now, it's not going to be. They've taken what appears to be three passes at music and it's still changed. But who knows.
  7. The Obsolete Man

Cheers - Complete List of Cuts and Music Replacements

There appear to have been further changes since then, then. That Unforgettable bit is on the Streaming versions now, as well. Unfortunately, the other replacements for the first 8 seasons appear to be permanent. And they changed Shout to Howlin Wolf in that one episode, so that's a new to...
  8. The Obsolete Man

Cheers - Complete List of Cuts and Music Replacements

So, going through Cheers, so far it looks like the best option through season 8 is the discs. Virtually no difference between the two (unless the discs are missing that Unforgettable part in the season 3 episode). The last three seasons, though, look to be streaming over discs, except in the...
  9. The Obsolete Man

Cheers - Complete List of Cuts and Music Replacements

Fans care. Companies pump out product for profit. Much like Grandma's cooking, the special ingredient is love. ...or lard. Either way.
  10. The Obsolete Man

Cheers - Complete List of Cuts and Music Replacements

The entire series was remastered in 2001 for syndication. So it's not an old tape matter, if there is any issue.
  11. The Obsolete Man

Cheers - Complete List of Cuts and Music Replacements

8,9,10, and 11. Anyway, what are these different edits in the streaming versions? It seems like they have more correct versions with all the music reinserted.
