It has never made any sense at all to me to eat any food which causes tears running down our faces. I guess it makes sense perhaps if a person was a heavy smoker and can’t taste anything else. These are also the people who cover everything in salt.
I’m from Canada. Our family food traditions were brought over from England and Wales at the turn of the last century. Virtually everything my mother cooked was boiled! My father was 1/2 French Canadian and did a lot of cooking in that tradition. The main spices were salt and pepper. Garlic was...
My wife loves to hunt for bargoons. She pores through weekly flyers and makes a list. Once she found out the sales did not apply to online purchases, we didn't even consider them.
We have Google minis and Google hubs through out our house and have been saying the rather idiotic phrase “Hey Google” to get the system to turn lights off and on, adjust the thermostat, get the roomba to work, play the radio, etc.
Today I accidentally discovered it was Scottish. It responds to...
What is a leisurely weekend paper read like? I have been married to a woman for 40 years that I love dearly, but she is one of those “up and at um” types. We set an alarm every day of the week even though we have both been retired. Isn’t one of the 10 commandments “Thou shall change out of thy...
This is a strange one, but I love sleeping in the car! My wife likes to go to casinos (pre. Zombie apocalypse of course) and gamble for a couple of hours. I stay in the car with music and things to read. Five minutes after she is gone I take out the car pillow and blanket, recline the chair, and...
Some things still are flippers. I recently purchased "Green Acres" from Walmart-- flippers! By the way, what a disappointment! What I thought was hilarious in first run seemed totally stupid now.
Today, after falling in love with the original cast recordings of the Broadway musical “Hamilton” when it first came out, we were able to secure 3 tickets for its Toronto run in May!
The negative part of the process, was that they cost us over $750.00! The Mirvish organization in Toronto put...
There is a shortage of GPs in Canada. Once you have one, you can get appointments in a day or two. The big bucks for doctors is found in being a specialist. They are having trouble getting Doctors here to train as family physicians. This is why I suspect we have a lot of recent immigrant doctors.
One of our local bus excursion companies (Fun Trek) has a dinner every year at this time. It is a sort of Christmas celebration with food, dancing, draws etc. At the end of the event they give you the catalogue of next year’s trips earlier than the rest of the public gets it. We usually go every...
We have always had a self cleaning oven, but unless you are making multiple over flowing cherry pies or something else extremely spattery, you only have to use the function once every 2 years or so. Remove racks first however, the heat destroys chrome.
Nothing so profound here.
It pleases me when I see that the 3D Blu ray of a recent movie is available in North America (eg. Justice League), and I don’t have to send to Britain or Hong Kong and wait extra weeks.
