    Things that baffle you?

As a TV addict for a number of years, I have always wished it was easier to modify remotes. Every one seems to have a number of stupid buttons controlling functions which surve purposes that I don't use, and of course they are right beside ones that get heavy use. I have big fingers, and of...

It's not charitable, but I always imagine a giganticly fat smoking creep, who also parks's in a handicap spot using his mothers sticker.

That's why we northerners have an advantage. You stand up and put your scarf on, then your hat, then they get the idea! They can't be waiting for us to order drinks, because we only drink water!

How about getting all your food, eating it, and then waiting and waiting and waiting for the bill. To my wife's embarrassment, I once called the restaurant in question to tell them that we wanted to pay and go.

My mother worked at Dominion store. A large Canadian grocery chain. The checked your groceries, bagged them and the “carry out” boys took them to your car an put them in your trunk. You were not allowed to tip them. Two accepted tips, and even though it was Christmas Eve, they were fired

I thought of 2 things for this thread today. The first one is adding bacon to everything. I for one love bacon, but not candied and sprinkled on the top of my muffin! I don’t know where this idea comes from, but yuck!! The second one includes computers. I fancy myself very computer literate...

You do have to be vaccinated and download and fill out the “ArriveCan” app. I guess the latter is a pain in the ass, although it is easy. I know the mayors of border towns on our side are constantly on the news lobbying to have the app discontinued.

We live about one hour from the border, and go across about once a week to shop, eat, and go to the casino. Our dollar is only .77 American right now, so we have to be careful. My wife is a bargain hunter, and we are still able to find many things that are 1/2 price next to what we pay at home...

    Things that baffle you?

My wife always remarks about the women who put all their stuff on the belt, but don’t seem to know they have to pay for anything. The groceries are checked out and then they fish around through their wallets for money, coupons or credit cards, while we all wait. Meanwhile while we were waiting...

My favourite genre is Broadway. By the time I see the show, I have listened to the cast album over and over. I always surprised by how much worse the show usually sounds in the theatre. You miss lyrics, jokes fall flat etc.

We had one for a while, and on cold winter days we would sit by it on comfortable chairs toasting ourselves. Unfortunately it was in the same room as the thermostat for the furnace. Because of this the furnace would not go on and every other room in the house would be cold as ice!

It still baffles me that people want to mount their flat screen TVs above the fire place like a mirror. They sit in rows on couches that are at right angles to the set and crick their necks up at uncomfortable angles to glimpse the picture. Why not just put it on the ceiling and be done with it...

After reading this you are going to want to shout oooooOOOOooooh! My mother in law died about three years ago. Today would have been her birthday. My wife likes to reconcile our MasterCard each month. She opened up our account, and instead of our address being there, my Mother in laws last...

I was apparently my Dr's last appointment recently. I went to the counter, gave my OHIP card and waited and waited and waited. Finally I went to the counter again. The upshot was that he was told I did not show up, and he went home!! To his credit, he was horrified and called me at home to...

My wife hates pickles with a passion, and can taste right away if they made her chicken sandwich with pickles and then took them off. When I pick up our food from the new Popeyes which opened 5 minutes away from us I have to remind them over and over -- no pickle, or I'd have to take everything...

Living in the land of snow here, we would never even consider eating it! Isn’t it full of industrial pollutions etc? It only takes a few moments it seems to turn grey (or yellow!). I don’t think even aboriginal people eat it.

I am not meaning to toot my own horn, but many of us have reached the point where we are “experts” on our favourite topic. It is very hard for me @69, to read any book on the history of Hollywood that has something I don’t already know. Don’t you often find as well that after a lifetime of...

What you have to realize, is that cell phones are not really phones at all but computers on which you happen to be able to make a call. I have two cell phones on which I do all my surfing, HTF stuff and reading. If I actually get a call on one, we know it’s a wrong number and do not answer. My...

I wish we had a better attitude toward tree decoration. Both my wife and I loath the process, and even my daughter hated putting it up when she still lived with us. My wife also hates the clutter and we often take it down on Boxing Day. As I said in another thread, we are skipping it this...

One of my English teachers would have made Andy Griffiths Aunt Bea look like a slut! Everything I wrote in that class was in the style and opinion of a 60+ school marm from the prairies in the 1930s. I did very well, but it was embarrassing if I was asked to read aloud. My essay on how music...

Most of the books I taught in English class were chosen because there were class sets in the school, and because I was familiar enough with the book to teach it.

If your opinion is based on misconceptions which show evidence that you have not read the book, it is wrong. Eg — "Mary received a letter in the mail that was red. — I found this boring".

For some reason, although I have no problem with anyone else drinking around me, in addition to never acquiring a taste for it, I actually don’t feel “adult” enough to drink myself. One of the most uncomfortable places for me are bars. It is funny, because alcohol was everywhere in the house...

I drink lots of coffee, but consider myself lucky in never having developed a taste for anything alcoholic. Both sides of my family are filled with numerous alcoholics, and knowing my rather addictive personality, I am sure I’d be one of them if I liked the stuff. Just think of the discs I can...

I sometimes wonder if I am a ghost. I'll go to the men's, and see the person in front of me go to a sink and wash their hands. I'll approach the sink and wave my hands under the faucet, and in front of the sensor, and absolutely no water comes out at all! In my last experience I tried every...

I agree that some Kcup coffee tastes like that, but you just have to experiment and find your blend from thousands of choices. We buy huge boxes of Tim Horton's kcups (We ARE Canadian!) original blend and de-caf from Costco, where they are sold at a very reasonable price.

What baffles me about coffee, is why everyone does not use Kcup coffee pods now. They are very quick, easy, and make delicious coffee. There kind of like a no-filter-no-grounds-coffee-revolution.
