I feel the exact same way. It's frightening watching the room fill up so rapidly, but it also would have been a show stopper. The original King Kong had it's spider pit sequence cut by Cooper and Schoedsack because it took away the focus from the fear of Kong and focused the viewer on the...

It certainly deserves a nomination for reference disc of the year.

John, this is what still grabs me about the story of the Titanic to this day. For all that we do know, there is still so much we don't, and never will. Seems like for every question answered, another remains a mystery.

I believe one Discovery program estimated the angle at no more than 15 degrees. I always thought that movies exaggerated the angle of the final plunge for dramatic effect. But I must say what an amazing effect it is!

Yes, I actually should have specified "ships still with us today that were built in the late '60's / early '70's". But all I can think of still sailing is one ship, the former Kungsholm of the Swedish America Line, and I think her dummy funnel was removed a long time ago. Years ago I had that...

Dave, like you said it's not anamorphic, so I have to use the "fill" mode with it on my TV. Surprisingly, it looks very good. I do get a tiny bit of picture cut off along with the black bars however.

John, I just want to know who these people were who thought some cruise line was still using a four stacker in the 1990's? Thanks for the info Tino, and by the way, the Titanic versus A Night To Remember debate is always a stalemate. I should know, I've been arguing with MYSELF for years and...

I've come to the conclusion that it's apples and oranges for me John. I find the "disaster emerging out of quiet elegance" approach to A Night To Remember just as disturbing to me as the "action packed" approach in Titanic. Both are wonderful retellings of this practically mythical event. I just...

Again, yes, I totally agree. But writing an open letter to a reviewer to "suggest" to him that he should recant his original opinion can at least be seen as the height of arrogance and immaturity. It's like a bully who discovers he can't strongarm another kid to his side of things so he gets...

This is the same man who, after winning his Oscar, kept shouting over and over like a drunken high school kid at a keg party that he's king of the world. He later sent an open letter to the reviewer from the LA Times (who had hated the film) asking him if he would admit he was wrong now that it...

I was always taught that anything you're going to do, do it right. It didn't matter if you were planning to do it again at some time in the future, what matters now is the present. Too bad my folks aren't in charge of Paramount DVD releases.

Bill, that appearance of Cameron on Winfrey's show has been a pet peeve of mine since it took place. As a history buff of all things ocean liner (the result of seeing A Night To Remember at the age of seven) I hung on every word spoken by Jim Cameron during his interview. He was fascinating to...

Argue with you? I want to nominate you for president. All of the scenes everyone is pointing out are indeed wonderful. Two of my favorites are scenes that I can't help but feel are homages to Hollywood past. The first is our first time seeing young Rose get out of the automobile. This shot...
