As much as the Tolkien estate hate the Jackson films, even they must surely admit it will have done wonders to book sales. Id give it 10 years at best before we see another Middle Earth film. The only problem I can foresee is the lack of current characters they will be able to market the film on...
I am glad I have avoided HFR to be honest - was initially thinking about it when I first heard about it but as soon as I heard bad reviews of it I was glad I avoided it as it seems to do nothing other than take people out of the film. Each year I consider it but then go for the ordinary...
As an aside I would however like to see someone else tackle any future Middle Earth films - I was very much looking forward to Del Toro's version and would like a different voice to be heard now.

Separate film series but briefly while I agree Dawn Treader as a film was problematic, from a film perspective its absolutely did need "fixing" due to the anecdotal nature of the book. They just didn't do a good job of it.

You aren't trying to get a sense, you are ridiculing people who might like the film because it makes changes to the sacred text.I think we can draw the line when a film version works in the viewers eyes regardless of the changes because they enjoy the characters and story presented and accept...
I'm sure there will be other Tolkien adaptations - too much money here to not do - but I think Jackson will be done after this and I think it would be better to let others explore the other stories - I for one was very much looking forward to a Del Toro version
Condescending much ???
I have read the Hobbit and it was one of my favourite books as a child. Im also aware that the tone is very different to LOTR - reading the Hobbit was what got my started into reading LOTR because I so loved the characters from the Hobbit and initially thought it was...
