Arrived safely. Usually these compilations fall a little short for me because I'm missing favorite cues, but this is an overall very nicely done presentation. The sound is incredibly good. And it's nice to finally hear the opening credits without the announcer.
Definitely worth picking up.
No sir, this was for The Rat Patrol, not 12 O'clock High. Alex North's rejected score was released on the second volume of The Rat Patrol soundtrack releases.
This second aired episode is actually the series' original pilot. ABC broadcast "Golden Boy Has Nine Black Sheep" first, probably considering it to be the superior episode.
This set is insanely good. As much as people tend to glom into the William name, he didn't set the tone for this series. It was the work of Leith Stevens, Robert Drasnin and Lyn Murry would really gave the show it's musical identity.
"Revenge of the Gods" by Stevens is epic scoring, truly...
Really want to thank you @Neil S. Bulk for all the work you and everyone do for these releases. Classic TV series scores are a niche within a niche and you really have to love it to do it. Whether they're complete or just whatever could be salvaged, these albums are a godsend.
Just double checked and you're right, summer was definitely the proposed release of vol. 2. I anticipate delays because that stuff happens. It'll get here. :)
Yeah, they made the focus of the 40th Anniversary releases be to match how the music sounded in the episodes. I really welcomed that in Year 2, as far as providing the mono cues. There are real differences in what you hear comparing Wadsworth's mono and stereo music. I wasn't crazy about some of...
That did cross my mind and I'm wondering if the mono tracks were film stems or timed to fit what they were hearing in the UK if they were comparing them to SD video prints. The HD Blu Rays would run them at the proper pitch and timing.
Other CD releases of the music were fine and I have the...
Is anyone overly familiar with the Space:1999 CDs from Fanderson? I feel like some of the cues in the Year Two 40th Anniversary set, like the mono main titles and the main titles for Destination Moonbase-Alpha run too fast. I went and changed the speed on my digital files and they sound better...
When the Star Trek Original Series Soundtrack Collection came out, I considered making "scores" for tracked epiodes. I did exactly one: The Corbomite Maneuver. It was a hideous challenge to make that epiodic score into a decent listening experience. After that, I had a huge appreciation for the...
Yeah I pretty much agree on all of these. The Grams book is incredibly good and I wish he did the other Irwin Allen properties rather than Cushman. The Messman/Van Hise book is just bloody awful. Probably the worst of them. Alpha Control Press was great in its day, before we had these shows on...
Maybe it was Irwin himself, since this was his favorite show. "Hey, make me a copy of the music and keep it in a safe place!"
:D
What's also surprising was how John Williams creating the signature time vortex music but the cliffhangers were Lyn Murray's work (which I knew but I'm just sayin')...
Plaything this bad boy right now. The sound is amazing. I'm really thrilled with how much music survived. After hearing how much was lost from Voyage and Giants, it was surprising so much music from The Time Tunnel still exists. As usual, the liner notes by Jeff Bond are incredibly informative...
The state of the postal service these days... I just hope it reaches me. I'm still bruised by the Voyage CD set which went to a different house and took me a month to receive it.
