You sound like me. Even though I don't have original recordings form my youthhood, I find commercials from 70's or 80's broadcasts and edit them in (along with the CBS Special Presentation intro). There's no other way for me to watch these things. It's not Christmas without these!

Okay great, thank you. I also remember the tag missing in later reruns. It was easy enough to cut and losing it doesn't impact the story. But it IS a lovely addition and really retains that "live TV" feeling, when everyone was watching the same few channels.

Well tell us what they are and I'll be happy to look at 'em. Question if anyone knows. When The Honeymooners did their Christmas episode, Gleason stepped out of character to speak with the audience and brought out Carney and Meadows so they can all say Merry Christmas. But it ends before anyone...

Full disclosure, I rarely make it though Mighty Joe Young and if it's not playing in the background, I save it for the evening. My sister and I will sit and watch at least Kong together. The in-laws are sports people, so as a proper host, I will defer to the game, but we have 3 TVs. It'll run on...

I copy and paste this every year it seems because these choices don't usually change since I am a traditionalist. So for my ramp up to Christmas, it goes like this: Christmas Viewing The Odd Couple: "Scrooge Wins an Oscar." Oscar Madison kicks Felix out of his apartment on Christmas Eve and...

Merry Christmas!! That epiusode is on my list as well. I got T.J. Hooker: "Slay Ride" done last night and it was what you'd espect from the series. Action hijinks and a wonderfully Shatnerian "Merry Christmas, Punk!" when he nabbed a perp while Hooker was dressed as Santa. Also watched...

This doesn't sound even a little silly to me. Every Thanksgiving, I watch King Kong, Son of Kong and Mighty Joe Young. For those of you who did not grow up at the same time as me in the NY Metro Area, WOR 9 had their Holiday Film Festival every year. I got original commercial breaks from...

I was offline for the most part this past weekend as we were hosting our first Thanksgiving in our rebuilt home (lost the original and two dogs to a fire on November 14, 2020) an had a lot going on all through yesterday. I do belatedly want to wish everyone a happy holiday season and express my...

Whoops I was wrong about this, I saw a listing where it ran on Christmas but in reality there was a special that night (a rerun of "The Dangerous Christmas of Red Riding Hood"). It did, however, run against the premiere of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" and that was a voyage to the bottom of...

What's funny is how the holiday season was once a place to dump weaker episodes. The producers of The Fugitive (which should have had a melancholy Christmas show) considered the flashback episode "The Girl from Little Egypt" to be one such failure and "buried it on Christmas Eve." And, indeed...

The Rankin/Bass was huge this time of year with all of their holiday specials. Just hearing it fills me with both joy of the season and a giant wave of nostalgia. TV show logos tend to do that for me because I always watched all the way to the very end. But that's another thread.

This episode is a classic among my friends. We used to rattle off what we could be having for dinner the way Grandpa tormented Herman and one of us would always repeated it back like Herman did. I also remember being terrified as a kid at the teaser of Herman rampaging out of his restraints. And...

That's understandable and they really did keep it in the background for the most part. However, it is there. There are decorations and a big tree in Davey's Aunt's living room (knowing Irwin Allen it's the same tree as soon on the Seaview) and it's mentioned in he dialog. This is one of the few...

Well, Lost in Space had two episodes that specifically referenced Christmas. "The Toymaker" in the second season showed a doorway to earth where people were celebrating the holiday, but it was a throwaway and it also aired at the end of January. So that doesn't count. However, the first season...

Circling back to Thanksgiving viewing, I watched the "Homecoming" episode of The Incredible Hulk. I remember it first aired the week after the holiday, so it fell flat for me at the time. I read that this was intended to be a two-parter, which would have been that season's only multi-part...
