I watched the theatrical cut this evening -- I wasn't going to convince my wife and mother to sit through the 3 hour director's cut. I thought the film was well-done, although the ending diverges from the novel -- just as it did with The Shining. I actually prefer the film's ending in this case...

How is the theatrical cut in comparison to the director's cut of Doctor Sleep? My mother is currently staying with us, and she's a big Stephen King fan. However, I doubt I could get her or my wife to buy into watching a 3 hour film.

Thanks for the review, Matt. I enjoyed the novel, but have yet to see the film. I will have to pick this up once the price drops (either on disc or digital stream).
