    Show Us Your Fall Colors

We may take a drive to Congaree National Park when we are in South Carolina this autumn. We've owned a place in SC for 25 years, but have never been to the park. It's upstate, and our place is on the coast.

We were in Michigan's Upper Peninsula last week, and the autumn colors were just starting. Here are a few shots from Tahquamenon Falls:

    Show Us Your Fall Colors

We stopped by the Smoky Mountains and Blue Ridge Parkway on our way to our South Carolina condo last month. While we've been to that area several times in the past, we had never been there in the fall. The colors were beautiful, but the crowds in the national park was crazy (much worse than...

The colors were just beginning to change on Mackinac Island early this week.

We had a new fall color come to town today... white. I took this from the deck in our back yard.

Nice, Mike. I had planned on stopping in the park on my drive home from work yesterday to take a few autumn photos, but the light just wasn't cooperating.

Okay, this one does have some leaves left on the oak trees. ;) Taken in my parents back yard in northern Michigan last weekend.

    Show Us Your Fall Colors

I think I'm done with fall colors for the year. This was from our weekend holiday trip to Traverse City.

But you also miss out on what comes after the fall colors -- boatloads of snow and subzero temperatures. ;)

I brought the compact EOS M with me to the golf course on Saturday. It was supposed to be sunny, but the sun didn't actually peak out until the 18th hole -- damn weathermen are always wrong.

Here are a few that I took on my commute home from work with my Canon EOS M. I am still getting used to using the CPL filter with the rear LCD screen.

    Show Us Your Fall Colors

Not sure this counts, but it was taken in the fall, and it has colors. ;) We were at our place in South Carolina last week, so no autumn foliage for me down there, but this sunset from our condo complex turned out cool. It looks like the colors are getting close to peak here in southeast...

My circular polarizer arrived for the EOS M. I tried a few shots this afternoon. Adjusting a CPL via a rear LCD screen is more difficult than via an optical viewfinder, so I probably did not get it adjusted optimally.

Bummer, John. The weather doesn't always cooperate. I stopped to take a few shots on my way home from work today. These are from a parkway I take on my daily commute called Hines Park. The colors are just starting to turn. I brought along my new Canon EOS M in case things looked interesting - I...

Thanks John. The reds usually come out early here, and they can be very vibrant. Unfortunately, the yellows usually peak after the reds are gone.

Brought along my Canon EOS M compact mirrorless camera on a bicycle ride this morning. The colors are just beginning turn here. That's my lovely wife on the pier.

The colors had not changed much last weekend when we made our trip to northern Michigan's Mackinac Island. Here are the best autumn colors I could find while hiking around the island. You can see some red on the embankment to Fort Mackinac on the right hand side.

John, I am very jealous. Wish I had a "backyard" like that to shoot! I love that last shot -- the clouds add that last, finishing touch.

    Show Us Your Fall Colors

While the colors are not changing around here yet, we did our first traditional autumn event this morning - a trip to the local cider mill. I brought along my new 16-35L f/4 IS wide angle lens to play a little. As you can see, the colors are not changing yet...

Good idea, John. I'll be visiting northern Michigan soon, and hope the colors will be turning then. In the meantime, here is one from a local park near our home from a few years ago. I drive by this spot on my way to/from work every day.
