Interesting points 42ndStreetFreak and I agree with many of them. Here's my two cents as a Brit who has lived in the States for 15 years. Just my opinion, I could be totally wrong......... Since the US has always produced the highest percentage of entertainment there is a long history of...

I'm pretty sure George is referring to the original since it played on TCM last month. Notwithstanding George's idiosyncratic opinions and my respect for this film, I actually could see this movie not being very rewarding for a non-British viewer. The locations, accents, class aspects and...

42ndStreetFreak, you are completely correct - it's just lazy scriptwriting. I had the exact same problem with Identity, which I did not like at all. However my larger point was that I really enjoyed most of the movie before the twist and am determined not to let it bother me.

I think that Haute Tension got a bad rap. The plot twist is ludicrous in the context of how the film was presented (there are numerous cheats) but it did not lessen the film's impact to me. The suspense, atmosphere and violence are all extremely well-done.

Re: Harold Lloyd and his stunts I have the book "Man on the Clock" by Tom Dardis and according to that there was a stunt double used for the long shots in "Safety Last" - Lloyd admitted as such in an interview in 1923. However a lot of the shots were done by building a set of three or four...

Adam, you're way too kind to HSM2. I watched this with my daughter and was shocked at how bad it was (haven't seen the first one). Although some of the music and the dance numbers were OK the linking material was lazy and cringeworthy even given the standards of children's TV. One thing I agree...

Absolutely. Although mainly set in the modern day, Lee' s films (and fights) have a sense of formality and history about them because he is portrayed as a martial arts "master" and, in the showdowns, there is a sense of an "epic duel" between two great fighters. As you say Streetfighter is just...
