Yeah, I would have bought steelbooks for each of the 10 original features, but now I have the two box sets. If the disc content is the same, I can't see buying them again, much as I'd want those steelbooks.
Ah, Star Trek VI. Watched it last night in 4k, and IMO it looks amazing. Deep darks, vibrant colors and sharp images. This one completely erases the bad taste of ST V, and unlike that film, feels like it takes place in the Star Trek Universe. A lot of that has to do with the story, which is all...
Another thing I have been enjoying with the new box set is the loads of extras for each movie. Many of them I have never seen before and even more I don't remember from 20 years ago (when they were issued on those DVDs -- 20 years? Sheesh).
Boy, the extras for Star Trek V are more than a bit...
I checked out Star Trek V in 4k last night, and in addition to the movie being the weakest of the original series of films, this one has the least exciting 4k transfer yet. Maybe that's a product of 80s film making, or maybe it's something else; I don't know, but IMO the 4k isn't a great...
I watched TSFS this weekend, and I thought it looked better in 4k than I remember seeing it, but it was always kind of a soft-looking film, so there weren't that many moments that jumped out at me. There were one or two scenes of the starships, where I thought "Those look tremendous." The...
It was TWOK for me last night. Besides the fact that every time I see it, it reconfirms that it’s my favorite of the films, I was struck by a couple of things. First, I’m not someone who says “Shatner can’t act,” I’ve never been in that camp. But this movie is undoubtedly his finest performance...
I guess I should have expected this: got a delay notification from Amazon for the 6-movie set. Originally scheduled to be delivered tomorrow, along with the TMP box set, it’s now coming Monday, I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop and get a notice that the TMP box is delayed too. Groan.
^ Great stuff from TrekCore. Those guys are really on top of things. Theirs is one of the best Trek web sites you will find anywhere, and their library of HD images cannot be beat.
With today’s announcement that Paramount will be releasing The Godfather films in individual steel books, and after they’ve done the same with Indiana Jones, I’d say Star Trek steelbooks are inevitable.
I don't think this is a limited edition (well, inasmuch as it's not severely limited; I mean everything is a limited edition). What Fein was saying (and what sites like the Digital Bits have also said) is that this probably won't be around come Black Friday, when folks are looking to get it at a...
So, sure, the TMP box set is pricey for what it is. But I ordered it, and I think of it this way: First, it contains just about everything we’ve ever asked for in a physical media set for this film, so they’re listening to us, and second, it wasn’t that long ago that we thought we’d never get an...
The Bits has reported that the TNG era films will be released in 4k around the time of the third season of Picard in 2023. For those that don’t know, that season will feature the entire TNG cast (as regulars) and will be at the proper send-off for those characters that Nemesis was not.
That box set of TMP is pretty much everything we have ever wanted or asked for. That said, there are a few questions. 1) Why do we have to rebuy 1-4 in the box set of the six films? Why not a complement to last year's box? 2) Do the extras from the TMP box carry over to the 6-film box? 3) Is the...
