Yes, we noticed that last week when we went shopping for steaks for Memorial Day weekend. They say it is because of the plant shutdowns, but I have also heard a possibility that these companies (Tyson, Cargill, etc.) are making money at both ends by reducing what they are paying to the farmers...
Interesting read, thank you for the link.
I think though, that if we are going to be skeptical of the CDC flu numbers, and from the opinion piece you shared we probably need to, then we might also need to do the same with the COVID-19 numbers. For example John Hopkins states their "Death totals...
Not to discount how horrible COVID-19 is, but we need to keep the data as factual as we can. Five times as the flu? I think we just don't get as upset about flu deaths as opposed to a coronavirus that we don't know enough about.

Except your link says otherwise:
Reporting on April 8 from ABC News revealed the existence of a November report by the National Center for Medical Intelligence (NCMI) on the potential of a pandemic from the Wuhan outbreak.

The novel coronavirus outbreak, which began in Wuhan, China, in...
I'm surprised as well, since if you read the article only some unnamed former military official makes the claim, both NCMI and the Pentagon deny any such report, and CNN in a linked article states that they haven't independently verified the existence of the report.
This is why we need to keep POLITICS out of HTF.
People need to take the time to look up the actual quote and see who said what.
It was the Lt. Governor of Texas, not the Governor
Calling people monsters during this pandemic does not help. He has a different viewpoint, but he spoke about...
