I agree with this. I receive regular emails from Eureka - the latest arrived two hours ago - but I haven't found any of them interesting for several months. A great pity.
I hope very much that Kino will be able to release Mister Cory on Blu-ray disc. This Universal title has never been on a legitimate disc, which is strange because it's an early Blake Edwards film with a high-powered cast.
The Kino Insider has already - several months ago - informed us that they did not renew their license because the original disc took so long to sell out. It looks as if you'll have to buy that disc second hand.
Yes, I'd love to have a high quality Blu-ray disc of that film. I have it on DVD but I want to upgrade! Another film I'm hoping for is That Kind Of Woman, directed by Sidney Lumet and starring Sophia Loren, Tab Hunter and George Sanders. Why this film with those credits is missing in action is a...
If you re-release only previously released titles in a new box-set, why not? However I would object very strongly to a new title being locked into a box-set with titles I already have, and I know many others will agree with me.
I hope there's more to come because I'm still waiting for The Hell With Heroes to be released. It was announced months ago, but I've heard nothing since then.
I watched O.S.S. last night, a good WW2 action and suspense thriller starring Alan Ladd. The writer was Richard Maibaum who later became involved in the James Bond series of movies. He was a good story teller and two ideas in O.S.S. were re-used in Bond films.
The picture quality of the Blu-ray...
I don't want to have regrets! The DVD does not compel me to upgrade and what I don't know can't hurt me!
Exactly the same issue applies to 4K. I watched Red Sparrow last night, for the fourth time in three years! The Blu-ray disc is excellent and I feel no need to spend money on the 4K disc...
I have The War Lover on DVD. I'm surprised that Sony have not yet produced a high definition master of this very interesting Steve McQueen movie. I'm sure that back in the day Twilight Time would have loved to release it on Blu-ray disc. Robert Wagner and Shirley Ann Field co-star.
That's been my approach so far and will continue to be. I have only two 4K discs at present - Vertigo and In The Heat Of The Night - and I bought them because they provided substantially better picture quality than what I already had. That for me is the deciding factor. I'll be buying The...
That's possible. George and Ira Gershwin wrote a song called But Not For Me in 1930 for the Broadway show Girl Crazy. The Gershwin estate has history of being obstructive.
