Though, I enjoyed the segment more than you did, but you made some excellent points.

That remains to be seen by me. When I finally watch this movie, I hope I'm not disappointed because of all the praise it's received.

Frankly, for the most part, I don't really care who wins the Oscars except for a couple of people. I do have a rooting interest with Brad Pitt, but, that's mainly because I love his character in the movie. Also, I think Deakins deserves his second Oscar as he did great camera work in "1917"...

Yeah, they took a lot of heat for that omission.

I expect the tribute to those that passed will be a little louder with acknowledgement this Sunday.

I have no dog in this fight, but it would be funny to see 1917 not win because of the aftermath that will follow from certain HTF members.:) The Oscars lost me 20 something years ago when Saving Private Ryan didn't win BP. Since then, I'm done with them.

Probably because some of us disagree with you labeling a movie that doesn't fit your film taste "garbage". Not to admonish you in any way, but I don't like that term and wouldn't use it for movies that I don't have any interest in seeing because it doesn't fit my film preference. IMO, words...
