    NFL Off-season 2019

Hell, they're doing that in the NBA and MLB now in which players are not playing the entire schedule of games. I get the fact that the NFL season only has a fraction of the games in those other sports, but the physical toll on NFL players is much greater too which is why I believe something...

    NFL Off-season 2019

Wow, Bart Starr died and so did some of my childhood. I remember being at my best friend's house watching the Ice Bowl between the Packers and Cowboys. My buddy Danny was a huge Cowboys/Chiefs fan so naturally me being a Giants/Raiders fan I was rooting on that particular day for the Packers...

    NFL Off-season 2019

What separated Brown, Halas and Davis from the rest is that in their prime years, they were actual football coaches with excellent evaluation skills when it comes to judging football talent.

    NFL Off-season 2019

The problem with some owners is they think they know football better than they actually do. Off the top of my head, there were only three NFL owners that really knew football: Paul Brown, George Halas and Al Davis. In each case, they got old and couldn't adapt to a newer version of NFL...

    NFL Off-season 2019

The same with the Giants, as Wellington and his son are overrated as owners. IMO, I think they stink as owners. They got lucky because Pete Rozell stepped in with George Young and they later hired another competent GM in Ernie Accorsi.

    NFL Off-season 2019

Except for the Yankees just about every NYC team is a dysfunctional organization. As you know by observing the Lions, there is nothing worse than having poor ownership as you're stuck with them for decades. It doesn't matter how much money they have as it's about their inability to hire the...

    NFL Off-season 2019

The football guys that I respect have Ferrell drafted in the first round. I thought Ferrell would be drafted between 15-25 and not #4 by the Raiders. However, after sleeping for about 2-3 hours, my criticism for this pick has lessen a bit because Ferrell is a really good football player, he...

    NFL Off-season 2019

Hey, I'm no draft expert, but the two teams I root for made very questionable first picks. Talk about reaching, they both reached big time. Again, I have zero faith in Gruden or Gettleman in building a playoff team so I'm not a happy camper right now. Damn, I'm glad I didn't watch this draft...

Eli is a compiler, but his passing stats will be good enough for many HOF voters. I never said his last name doesn't help, I'm just saying he would get in if his name wasn't Manning.
  11. Robert Crawford

    NFL Off-season 2019

It's too bad you don't have a HOF vote, but those that do vote will think otherwise. It's not like that HOF voting hasn't been questionable in prior voting.

    NFL Off-season 2019

Even though this is a much more passing era, Eli has better QB stats than Plunkett. Also, Eli won two SB MVPs. I think he gets in even if his name was not Manning. I do agree, he's not first ballot HOF.

    NFL Off-season 2019

Not a first ballot HOF, but he'll probably get in.

    NFL Off-season 2019

I have zero faith in Gruden until he proves me wrong by building a winning team. Matter of fact, I have zero faith in my other team's direction, the Giants. The NFL is practically dead to me as both the teams I've rooted for since the mid-60's appear to badly run football organizations.

It will be interesting to see what the ratings are for the draft. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2019/04/23/three-network-coverage-shows-continued-growth-of-the-nfl-draft/

    NFL Off-season 2019

I thought I read the combined ratings are doing pretty well since they're more than one network covering the draft. I know it's going to be on ABC this year with coverage on other networks too.
  17. Robert Crawford

    NFL Off-season 2019

I'm pretty sure the combined TV ratings says otherwise.

    NFL Off-season 2019

Further details came out about Wilson's contract and he has much more than 65M guaranteed. It's actually 107M of such money while receiving a 65M signing bonus. Wow!
  19. Robert Crawford

    NFL Off-season 2019

Apparently, they struck a deal late last night so it was all bargaining tactics from both sides. Looks like 4/140M with 65M guaranteed. He'll make 17M this upcoming 2019 season then that new 4 year extension kicks in.
  20. Robert Crawford

    NFL Off-season 2019

The 2019 season is the last year of his current contract, but then he can be franchised for three years which could net him about 100M+ over those three franchise years.

    NFL Off-season 2019

The draft starts two weeks from today, but that weekend I have four showings of "Endgame" so my attention to this year's draft will be less than prior years.

    NFL Off-season 2019

IMO, they need to kick the door open and review any play within certain restrictions as to the number of challenges a coach can use.

    NFL Off-season 2019

I expect them or my other team the Giants to be on Hard Knocks.
  24. Robert Crawford

    NFL Off-season 2019

They'll be on Hard Knocks on HBO this year.:) I've never watched that program, but I might do so this year if they're chosen as it might be more entertaining than their 2019 season.
  25. Robert Crawford

    NFL Off-season 2019

The Maras are overrated as owners because of what they did back in the early 1960s, when along with George Halas they decided that the TV money should be equally divided among the teams which helped level the playing field, revenue-wise for small market teams like Green Bay. That financial...

    NFL Off-season 2019

Gettleman isn't the problem with the Giants, it's the ownership. Gettleman is as cutthroat as you can get as an NFL GM. If he had his way, he would have "shit can" Eli last year and traded OBJ too. IMO, I think ownership which was too loyal to Eli has finally given him the ok to rebuild this...

    NFL Off-season 2019

Potentially, the Browns should be a playoff team in 2019. That division is weaker now as I think the Steelers, Ravens and Bengals will be less than what they've been beforehand.
  28. Robert Crawford

    NFL Off-season 2019

Well my other dumpster fire team that I'm a fan of traded their diva receiver OBJ to Cleveland for a couple of draft picks and Jabrill Peppers. IMO, this was a good move by the Giants as OBJ would have followed Brown's playbook if they kept him around. Let him be the Browns headache. Now, the...

    NFL Off-season 2019

When Gruden shows me he can build a team that can be a playoff competitor then I'll give him credit. He lucked into that Brown trade due to abnormal circumstances. Brown is a great receiver, but he's still a "me" player that I didn't want on my team as he's a cancer in the locker room...

    NFL Off-season 2019

My Raiders are an awful team so of course, Gruden would trade a 3rd and 5th round picks for Brown and then give him a new contract.:emoji_angry: I swear, both of my NFL teams, the Giants and Raiders are total dumpster fires. The NBA team I root for, the Knicks are a dumpster fire. Only the...
