That's three of them as well as Crawford/All the King's Men, Peck/Twelve O'Clock High and Ryan/The Set-Up. With that said, I think Cagney's performance in White Heat is the most memorable one to this day.
I'm not saying he didn't nail it, but that doesn't mean it was the best acting performance in 1949.:) Anyhow, I respect your opinion on the matter, I just can't agree with it.
John Wayne is my favorite all-time actor, but there were a handful of acting performance in 1949, that were better than his performance in this great film. That year, Wayne was properly nominated for his acting performance in "Sands of Iwo Jima".
I'm just saying you don't take the first supplier excuse given to you as an explanation. I've been there and done that. You don't think George Feltenstein knows how popular this title is and well it's going to sell? He knows and so do those other fine people that work for WA in marketing.
Perhaps, the purchasing agents for the retailers need to take some blame here as somebody that just retired as a material acquisition manager, those agents are responsible for placing the right amount of orders to Warner. Warner just doesn't send a 100 copies to any retailer, there has to be...
It looks like Warner and/or the retailer failed to see how much demand this BD Release would garner from the general public. Somebody should have known this would be a popular selection especially around Father's Day.

Well, I really got lucky as my copy is out for delivery today. Again, ImportCD where I purchased it from has it on backorder too just like most of the on-line retailers. Also, my purchase price was $15.11 plus shipping. Last night, I bought Chisum from Amazon once the price dropped to $9.99...

You need to grab Fort Apache and Rio Grande beforehand as it would enhance your viewing experience for this Cavalry Trilogy. They're pretty cheap as Amazon is selling Fort Apache for $6.99 and Rio Grande for $16.99
