It's shocking that you disliked this film.;)

    Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk - July 2017 (Shot in 70mm)

Right, the pilot played by Tom Hardy was somebody I was emotionally invested in and by the end of the film, I didn’t want him to die as he courageously fought against the Germans.

    Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk - July 2017 (Shot in 70mm)

Obviously, a conscious decision by the director to do so. Nolan filmed this movie not intending to make an epic film such as The Longest Day or even to a lesser degree Battle of Britain. As film goers we either accept that film vision or we don't and since a director can't please everyone, he...

    Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk - July 2017 (Shot in 70mm)

They showed the following trailer before my Atomic Blonde showing today. I'm sure the box office appeal of Dunkirk probably helped pushed this trailer to the forefront.

    Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk - July 2017 (Shot in 70mm)

Some people didn't connect with Hardy's character? He didn't say much in the film, but his actions during the film had me rooting for his survival. He could've turn back a couple of times, but he forsake his own well being to continue to protect others.

    Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk - July 2017 (Shot in 70mm)

You think that way, I don't as it's just not that simple. It makes sense that the French would be the last to leave as it was their country that they were evacuating from so them being the rear guard is the right move. Furthermore, the British did come back and rescue thousands of French troops.

    Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk - July 2017 (Shot in 70mm)

Yeah, I'm on the opposite side of Edwin on this which isn't surprising. People have complained about historical accuracy of films forever and I don't see that stopping in the future. People write and direct films from their POV which might not align with historical accuracy.

    Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk - July 2017 (Shot in 70mm)

I was expecting your input.:) By the way, I have zero problem with Gold as it was about individuals so the screenwriters made it about Americans to appeal to American audiences. It was a business decision, not to disrespect a country. This type of change happens all the time in films and has...

    Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk - July 2017 (Shot in 70mm)

Well, we've seen this complaint beforehand, but usually it's against how the Americans have disrespected other countries role in films about historical events like Objective Burma, Saving Private Ryan and Argo just to name a few...

    Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk - July 2017 (Shot in 70mm)

Yeah, I wouldn't take her to an IMAX showing. Even though loud films don't usually bother me, this IMAX showing was a little too loud for my liking and it affected my ability to discern spoken dialogue in the film.

Yeah, Rex is up there in age, he should be pushing 80 by now.

    Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk - July 2017 (Shot in 70mm)

Excellent film, but the audio level was a little too loud for my taste. I didn't recognize Tom Hardy until the end of the film. A couple of times I teared up and I'm not even a Brit.

Tomorrow, I'm making my 90 mile round trip down to the nearest IMAX theater to me for the 10:30 a.m. showing.

I think you might want to rethink your decision and see this film.

    Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk - July 2017 (Shot in 70mm)

Well, that's where I disagree with you. I think many films over two hours are too long and would be better if they condense their storytelling. As to this particular story, I'm not sure this is warranted for a couple of reasons. It's not like their telling the same type of story like D-Day in...

    Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk - July 2017 (Shot in 70mm)

Can a film be epic without it being two hours or more? I think so..... I actually find this a pleasant surprise as hopefully more people will be educated about sacrifices that were made when the world was at war. IMO, people need to be more cognizant of history as it has a tendency to repeat...

    Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk - July 2017 (Shot in 70mm)

I'm a big 3-D fan, but I wouldn't want to see this film in 3-D as I think the battle sequences will be horrific enough without the extra depth perception in Nolan's reincarnation of that significant battle.

    Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk - July 2017 (Shot in 70mm)

Let's remember the Midway battle took place in a short period of time without any media while D-Day was anticipated by all and with plenty of media covering the invasion.

    Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk - July 2017 (Shot in 70mm)

As I watched the trailer, I had to wonder if more than a few people know what was Dunkirk, especially American audiences and younger generations.

Having an alternate opinion is fine and dandy, but when you state it wasn't much of a movie then I see it as hyperbole, sorry, as the acting performances alone disqualifies that summation as not being much of a movie.

    Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk - July 2017 (Shot in 70mm)

While I can understand not liking the movie, but I don't agree with your comment and consider it hyperbole.
