I am not talking about Fox catalog titles perse. I'm talking about lower pricing in general as far as BR software and hardware so that later this year especially around the Holiday season, people that haven't bought into BR might be entice to do so. What those prices are I leave it up to the...

The next six months should be revealing as I see the industry moving away from promoting this format from the early adoptor segment to the mass market. Hopefully, by the Holiday season, the industry will stop looking at Blu-ray consumers as only early adoptors and will lower prices that will...

Some interesting comments in that linked article including Fox's Steve Feldstein's comment about "Blu-ray's targeted demographic of young male adults" and the price differential between SD DVD and Blu-ray which is contributing to the higher percentage of sales for Blu-ray.

Walter, You are so right and I've stated so more than a few times, but it seems like I might as well be talking to the wall. None of these naysayers or cheerleaders are going to make a bit of difference on the future of HDM. It's all about economics and marketing now as the industry tries to...

It's rather simple what you guys need to do is just ignore them. If nobody responded, sooner or later such negative posts will go away. Same with this thread, those that complain about it, shouldn't be posting in it and eventually it will die a natural death. If members want to discuss...

It's a point that has been made often and maybe, it's time to let it go? Otherwise, we might be promoting it's continue existence. Whatever happens with HDM and downloads, it will happen in due time without us becoming so emotionally invested in their promotion. One thing this latest format war...

Actually, I think either analogy is bad because unlike LD or VHS, people can still play their SD DVDs on BR players. Right now, it appears our discussions keep going around in circles because we're doing nothing but espousing our opinions about the future of HT, when in actuality we have little...

Just a suggestion on my part to some members. The format war is over and without a doubt there are some posters still bitter over that outcome. However, with that being said, their bitterness is not going to change the outcome nor will it determine the future of HDM. It's in the hands of the...

If you can't tell the difference between HD DVD titles and the rest of that programming then something is definitely wrong. I am now on my third generation of equipment for HD television programming and I have a VP-50 video processor to upconvert my SD DVD collection and none of them comes close...

I don't understand why we can't give the industry until the end of the year to show their cards? Frankly, most people won't be buying into HDM until the last quarter of the year. Right now, the economy is shaky and people are nervous about how they spend their discretionary dollars so I think...

As someone that works for a manufacturer of mass market products, I would give the industry 6-9 months to adjust the HDM market struture just in time for this year's fourth quarter and holiday season.

The format war is over and the rehashing of so-called facts isn't going to change the outcome. Furthermore, the high pricing of BR software and hardware can't/won't continue because there are too many revenues to be made by mass market adoption of BR. Business is business and very soon that...

The industry realizes there is too much money to be made to just limit HDM to a niche market with high prices on both software and hardware. Furthermore, with the SD DVD revenue stream becoming stagnant it will become imperative to the industry to open up those revenues gathered from home video...

David, We're not talking about HT enthusiasts as I'm interested as to how fast HDM can become mass market. IMO that is the next step as of now, since there is only one HDM format, HT enthuasiasts will continue to buy BR players throughout this year and into the future.

It won't drop by much if it comes out at $600, at least not until the holiday season which will be six months after it's launch. Like I said, I'm going to buy this unit regardless of price because I like how my BD-30 has performed.

The reduced pricing has to come first then combined that with big titles will lead to further market penetration beyond the hardcore HT enthusiast group. Right now, most of us currently participating in HDM are in that hardcore group. So those actions need to take place by the end of this year...
