I can't wait to get my hands on the BFI restorations of the silents. That is one of the most exciting projects in recent years and the British fans have been very lucky -- they live there and can go to the screenings. We Americans have to wait. I hope they'll get them all out this year. What are...
Good news that Criterion has these. That doesn't necessarily mean they have DVD / blu-rays rights. I don't do downloads as a rule, but I will pay top dollar for SABOTAGE (1936), YOUNG AND INNOCENT (1937) and FOREIGN CORRESPONDENT on Criterion blu-ray.
I bought that set long ago. The transfers are fine -- especially JAMAICA INN which never looked as good anywhere else -- but the 4% PAL speed-up coming out of this set on American players is so extreme it makes the films hard to watch.
I can't wait to see "The Hitchcock 9":
1926 The Pleasure Garden
1926 The Lodger
1927 The Ring
1927 Downhill
1927 Easy Virtue
1928 The Farmer's Wife
1928 Champagne
1929 The Manxman
1929 Blackmail
I wouldn't be surprised if the come out on Blu-ray about a year after theatrical...
Isn't this box-set just for Germany though?
How do we know they are new HD transfers?
