Off-topic I know (at least in the case of EL CID), but does the Insider or anyone else know why Anchor Bay/Pinewood were able to put out great Blu-Rays of Bronston's CIRCUS WORLD and 55 DAYS AT PEKING in 2014, and stopped there. I would have thought that EL CID and THE FALL OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE...
The confirmation from Kino:

Fox did something similar to this years ago, asking for suggestions broken down by decade, as I recall. Not sure how successful that was, I just remember than CAN-CAN (desperately in need of some loving care technically) lost in the voting.
I would recommend checking out 220 Electronics. I have bought three region-free devices from them over the years, and have been pleased with each. They offer a wide range of players, costing from $100 to $1300+.
I agree with the previous posts that region free is the way to go. I am always...
On the "Warner Archive Announcements" thread, there are complaints that Warner Archive is releasing ONLY films pre-1960s instead of more recent films. We collectors are a feisty bunch!
Same here, although I've been lucky and never received an empty case. I have found the wrong disc inside a case, and the weirdest problem to date: a Warner Archive MOD DVD had TWO titles printed on the disc on top of each other, and of course the disc contained the movie I DIDN'T order. Both...
Fortunately, I've never had a problem with receiving a disc so scratched that it wouldn't play. My worst case with a manufacturing error was receiving a MOD disc with two different movies' labels printed on the disc, one of top of the other. I played the disc, and since I am Murphy's Law...
I wonder if this might open up the possibility of another Disney deal:

Probably not, given the size of your TV screen. But it might make a dramatic LISTENING difference if you pipe your sound through a home theater system. As I have mentioned elsewhere, the main advantage for me of a UHD release in the inclusion of a Dolby Atmos track, which usually is left off...
Another reason to upgrade has nothing to do with image quality. More often than not, you have to buy the UHD version to get a Dolby Atmos soundtrack. I presume Atmos is left off of Blu-Ray releases as another marketing perk, not due to space issues on the disc. The Atmos track (which was a...
The service is called Informed Delivery, and it is a godsend. It's apparently not available everywhere in the US, but if you can get it, I highly recommend it.

I too love their eclectic tastes in releases, and I buy both their truly classic quality films as well as their "so-bad-they're-great" films (I added SONG OF NORWAY as well as THE OSCAR to my collection).
In that vein, I hope their current Universal deal still has room for THE CONQUEROR. They...
Have you priced an American remailing service that will buy things in the US and then ship them to you?
Since you are in the UK, you may be aware that Marks and Spencer stores used to not ship to America. Until they changed their policy, I used a British remailing service. I would have the...
??? Not only is it available directly from Kino as mentioned above, but even the dreaded Amazon has it in stock (at least as of this morning).
DVD "Rodent" (don't wanna get spanked again for referencing another site) has reviewed it, so it is apparently not cancelled.
As I recall, the Insider previously said they had no interest in THE CONQUEROR. Then again, they also previously claimed no interest in FLOWER DRUM SONG and that is now on their release list.
And to be fair, the Insider says the same thing about not answering questions on specific titles on "the other forum" either. He usually just provides general information like that posted above.
I didn't log on soon enough to see what you originally posted, so no harm, no foul. Whatever it was, I do appreciate your taking the time to update your post.
Given the realities of the physical media business today, it's nothing short of miraculous that Kino Lorber has such a prolific release schedule of older films. That "Mister Lime" is willing to communicate directly with the feisty collectors that we are is even more miraculous. No company is...
