Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)

Although he'd flirted with the Dark Side before, I believe Anakin finally put himself on the fast track to hell when he killed Dooku. His earlier actions all pale in comparison. His secret marriage? Hey, who's to say it isn't the Jedi that are wrong to forbid emotional attachements? It was...

Hayden does pretty well through most of the duel, but yeah, that line reading was ludicrous. I know we're supposed to see how drunk with power he is at that point, but less is more, George. If he'd used the same intense, menacing tone he used on "this is the end for you, my Master", it would...

Because Lucas is the devil, of course. What are you, new? ;) If Lucas does it, it's cheesy. If ANYONE ELSE ON EARTH does it, it's inspired. I love everything about Vader's awakening. James Earl Jones did an excellent job reminding us that this may be suited Vader, but it's still...

Party pooper ;) I didn't expect to feel so strongly for Anakin during this movie, but I did, majorly. Especially as he lay there defeated. In that scene, every choice Lucas made regarding Anakin in the PT, paid off for me. I wasn't just feeling sorry for the cocky hero I'd gotten to know in...

Just a few minutes ago I was listening to the ROTS soundtrack and thinking it was a sure bet for best original soundtrack. Then I come here and find this... Just another reason to miss the broadcast, I guess. I hope Trisha Biggar gets an Oscar in the near future, because she sure as hell...

I can understand the frown in terms of what it means for the box office take, but man I'd kill for a private screening.

A valiant attempt at trolling, but I found it rather uninspired. I give it a 2.2 on 1-5 scale. PS-- "Obsurd"? :rolleyes

Re: LOTR... For me, as with the PT, the middle film nearly ruins the series for me. The Two Towers was such a departure from the source (which had been so lovingly adhered to in most of FOTR, Aragorn's attitude towards Gondor excepted), that it really made me worry about whether ROTK would...

I think AOTC could have been much better than it was. But I rank TPM and ROTS up there with the OT.

Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)

I've always taken it to mean that Palps was channeling Anakin's raw power, and it was so overwhelming that it affected him physically. Another theory I've heard is that past Sith Lords were speaking through Palpatine, rejoicing in the rise of this powerful heir to their legacy. Of course, that...

Come on, if you were in his shoes, would you take Anakin's attitude any more kindly? I'm surprised Mace didn't hit him when Anakin offered his "help" by saying "the Chancellor is very powerful, you'll need my help".

Hey I asked no questions as to where he got it :D I'll just pretend the Jedi pixies left on his doorstep :D I will atone on Sunday by going for my seventh theatrical viewing, though ;)

Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)

When I see Anakin defeated, face down on the black sand, about to burn half to death, I feel sad for the young Jedi I got to know at the start of the film, the one that wouldn't let his Master and friend sacrifice himself for the sake of a mission. The one that wanted to go back to help the...

Chuck, I meant Commander Gree, the one that receives the order to off Yoda. Apparently, he's one of the elite clones that showed signs of individuality early on and were tapped for the ARC program, and were hand-trained by Jango himself, blah blah blah :D

Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)

Would you be even more pissed if I tried to jsutify it by telling you that the clone commander who received Order 66 has a fairly extensive EU background and that he's not a random clone? :D

Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)

Somewhere (hell if I can remember where, though), someone posted a scan of an old yearbook. Lucas was in it, and so was a kid named Vader. He wasn't named Darth, though.

Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)

You know, he did say "destroy the Sith, we must". He was on an assassination mission, he wasn't going to arrest Palpatine or force him to resign his post. He was going to kill him or die trying. Jedi practice restrain in every facet of life, except where the Sith are concerned. As for Yoda...

Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)

Larry: Yeah, it's been mentioned once or twice ;) Re: Mace vs. Palps. I think Palpatine had it all planned out, right down to counting on Anakin not being able to stay behind, waiting. When Anakin hears his voice saying "you do know, if the Jedi kill me, all chance of saving her will be...

Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)

Richard, I didn't mean the reaction was badly portrayed, I love the acting in the scene. But he's clearly struggling to appear happy, which is why I say he sees the baby as a hindrance more than a "blessing". I know the scene you mean, and it would have certainly changed my opinion if it'd...

Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)

It's more selfishness. Before she tells him, he's kissing her in the hallway, with the senators and Palpatine not far ahead of them. He says he doesn't care if people find out. So if he doesn't care, why that half-assed reaction to her pregnancy? Because a baby gets in the way of Anakin having...

Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)

I think GL was trying to show how selfish Anakin's "love" really is. His "love" for Padmé in AOTC was adolescent infatuation/fixation, and it's degenerated into overwhelming posessiveness in ROTS. When he tells Padmé of his nightmares, her first thought is for her child ("And the baby?!") and...

Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)

The novel is excellent indeed, and there are a few elements I wish had been carried over into the film. I realize that internal passages such as Vader's realization of his fate during his "awakening" would be just about impossible to translate, but I do wish the scene where Obi-Wan asks if...

Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)

Dharmesh, when I first heard of the prophecy in Episode I, I simply assumed it meant balance as in "harmony and stability", not necessarily an equal amount of Sith and Jedi. I guess the Jedi assumed the same.

Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)

Given how easily Mas Amedda took to calling him "Master", I can easily picture Palps making the ass-kissing blue biatch go out in the rain and get it for him.

Just got back from viewing #5, with my cousin. She loved it, and now can't wait to watch the OT, to see what becomes of Anakin :D Mesa proud ;) After the movie, we ran into her sisters, who had taken the kids out shopping. My (second) cousin, Alberto, age 8, has become a Star Wars nut thanks...

Amen. I've seen this scene torn apart by some fans, but I think they just didn't pick up on the playfulness of the acting. They were being corny on purpose, and it was very refreshing to see Anakin and Padmé having some fun.
