Regarding The Sound of Music I found out the Real Von Trapp Family's flightb from Nazi Germany was no way near how you saw it in the movie. They were on a Concert Tour in the USA when Mr. Trapp got a Telegram ordering him to report to Germany's Navy for Duty. Instead they asked for (and...
Since the stores that opened on Thanksgiving saw a drop in sales over last year I've decided to give the MO3S Movies the "Polar Express" Treatment and "let them slide", BUT I WILL PLACE THEM ON THE "CHECK TWICE" LIST for next year!
I may not watch either the 1946 or 1973 versions (The latter on "Homemade DVD") this year because Macys is forcing many store employees to miss their annual parade in order to work on Thanksgiving instead.
I'm already in my Pre-Thanksgiving Mode, watching Family-Friendly Movies that used to be "staples" in the days leading up to Thanksgiving. As soon as I finish supper on the day after Thanksgiving I will commence my official Christmas Viewing, and from 11/28 to 12/23 I will watch nothing but...
Next Friday (July 11) My annual "Christmas in July" Week commences/ I'll break out my Holiday CDs and breaking out my Holiday Movies. Great way to get your mind off the summer heat.
IMO The 1951 version of A Christmas Carol is the best one, the 1984 "George C. Scott" Version is purdy good also, It gives the 1951 version a run for the money.
Or you could do what I do, and watch them on the week after Independence Day. I do a "Christmas In July" week after the July 4th Activities are over, breaking out my Christmas DVDs and Cds and playing them. I also break out a Christmas Tree and place it in the Window, and next year I'm going to...
Merry Christmas my friends! My Video players get a 48 hour reprieve as I go out to attend various Christmas Festivities these next two days. Tonight I'm going to three Christmas Eve services at three different churches (Make mine a TRIPLE!). :D
Tomorrow I'll be celebrating Christmas with...
Christmas in July is fun. I decorate a Small Christmas Tree and display it in the window (I'm sure it causes some double takes). On the Final Evening I Cook a Standing Rib Roast and serve it with all the trimmings. I also order a "Gift" from me to myself from The Big River and...
Beginning on the Friday after July 9 (July 9 if it falls on a Friday) I commence my "Christmas in July" week, and break out my Favorite Christmas CDs, Movies and TV Shows and play them, getting my mind off the mid-summer heat. :D
I had planned to watch the 1984 version of A Christmas Carol last night but I got invited out to dinner, then went to a Church Event. Tonight will be a Double Feature, the aforementioned 'Carol followed by National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. At 6:00 PM my Christmas Lights will be turned on...
I no longer watch the news, or read a newspaper. The headlines are WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too depressing. :f The News Media is nothing but a flock of Vultures. :(
My "Final Assault" on Christmas begins this Sunday with the 1984 (George C Scott) version of A Christmas Carol. I will then watch the following:
Monday National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
Tuesday Home Alone
Wednesday Home Alone 2
Thursday Home Alone 3
Friday A Christmas Carol 1951...
IMO the Reason the Confederacy lost the Civil War was because they couldn't handle the Yankee Winters! If you've never spent a winter in Michigan's Upper Peninsula (or points further north) you do not know what cold weather is really like! :D
Rocky is the appropriate movie for December 26, which in the British Commonwealth Nations (Australia, Great Britain, Canada, New Zealand and others) is Boxing Day!
Yup, as we get closer to the Big Day I'll be wheeling out my "Big Gun" Christmas Movies and TV Specials myself. Then on the 26th I'll tip a hat to Australia, Great Britain, Canada, and the other Commonwealth Nations by watching Rocky :D
I've been watching a Christmas Movie every day since Black Friday, along with my Favorite Christmas Episodes. Tonight I'm watching a Movie called A Hobo's Christmas followed by the Long Live the King Episode from Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. :tu:
I wrapped things up last night with The Polar Express, followed up by the episode of The Gift from Steve Canyon (Volumes 1 & 2 arrived on Christmas Eve! :D).
Tonight in honor of our Friends in the British Commonwealth (That's Canada. Great Britain, Australia & New Zealand, among others for...
I saw this one for the first time last week and I Agree! It's been a Tradition for me to watch the 1951 Version of this movie on December 21 of each year (Which I will do again Tomorrow). Next year the 1984 Version will "Trade Places" with the 1951 Version. MY "Grand Finale" is actually six...
I wish Classic Media would either release the entire series of Lassie, or at least let someone such as Shout! Factory, Timeless or even Time-Life have a shot at it.
When I was a Child I always assumed that there were three differant versions of this show, namily Jeff's Collie, Timmy and Lassie...
I'll begin watching Christmas-Themed TV Shows and Movies tonight. (Actually I began last Sunday, then recreated what Thanksgiving Week meant for me in Detroit, Michigan in the Early 1970s. Check out the "What's the last DVD you watched" Forum tonight for more info. :D
Mill Creek has a Collection of Christmas Episodes called Holiday TV Classics, which containd 49 episodes from many older TV Shows. (I do not have it) If anyone else want's to put in their two cents worth go for it!
