I'm in for The Alaskans. Didn't think we would ever see this one. This one had the same complicated music rights issues due to lots of songs that the Warner Detective shows due. So this definitely leaves hope for those to be released.
For those that have followed their TV on DVD releases since the beginning in 2010 it makes more sense. They released all the Warner tv western shows on DVD except for this one but intended to release Colt .45 as well but it needed more extensive restoration because it was in poorer condition...
Scratches were a real issue with DVD's. They rarely affect blu rays unless its a major scratch. Alot of my Blu Rays have some minor scratches, some from being floaters but they never affect playback. But DVD was a different story.
Maybe but I remember people that used recorded discs for years commenting often that they had burned discs that worked fine and they had them for years.
I really think it was people feeling slighted by the studios somehow because they were getting a burned disc similar to one you make at home...
That was the initial thought back in 2009 when they 1st came out. And it spread without data to back it up. Now that we have discs out for 14 years and over 1,000 releases it’s safe to say it’s nothing but urban legend. No difference in pressed or burned disc’s other than burned can scratch...
Pretty nice month. Fastest Gun Alive and Du Barry was a Lady are must haves and instant buys for me. Helen of Troy I will probably pick up on sale down the road.
It looks like the runtime for Hey There its Yogi Bear was copied over from Courtship of Eddie's Father in the original press release. The runtime should be 89 minutes.
Very excited for King Solomons Mines. The more Stewart Granger the better.
Also surprised but happy the animated title was Hey There its Yogi Bear in OAR although I would have preferred The Man Called Flintstone in OAR. Hopefully that one is coming soon.
I may also pick up The Courtship of...
As a Historical epic movie fan Helen of Troy is ok. I will pick it at some point but Land of the Pharaohs I find deadly dull with pretty much 0 action or battle scenes. But Happy for those who have been waiting so long for it. I would much rather have Scaramouche and Knights of the Round table...
Yes they did some 4 film sets but never a 6-film set on Blu Ray. And these were only done after the individual releases. Releasing them 1st wouldn't fit their business model and likely wouldn't generate enough profit to make restoring the films worth it.
Except these sets are being released by WHV and WAC is the one that released The Thin Man series and WAC rarely releases a box set as it doesn't fit their model.
Maybe more likely but it isn't what happened. This was about 10 years ago so things were a bit different. The 2nd volume was announced shortly after the 1st was released which did sell well according to Amazon and other sales trackers of the time. After they announced two questionable cartoons...
Volume two was cancelled years ago by Warner Home Video after fans said they wouldn't buy it because they weren't including 2 cartoons with racial concerns. So WHV listened and cancelled it. They haven't had any interest in the series since then and that was at least 8 years ago.
Its most of the episodes. Wac asked the question on their FB page years ago if people would still buy the episodes if they were heavily edited for music and the majority said no.
Many of us asked for the past 14 years believe me. They wanted to release them but they have expensive music clearance issues that prevented WAC from releasing them. Sadly they have now moved past releasing classic TV on DVD so almost no chance these are released now.
I don't think all of the music is the same and there could be different circumstances with the way it is licensed. They definitely would have released the rest of Huckleberry Hound and Quick Draw McGraw a really long time ago if they could have.

Yeah for many of us WAC never releasing the detective shows is the biggest disappointment from WACS classic tv on DVD days. Which does unfortunately appear to be over. I really would have liked the remaining Westerns and the Thin Man series too.
