I don't "hate" Moulin Rouge! either, I just didn't think the film worked.
The hyperkinetic style undermines the film's very theme. It is difficult to become involved with or care about the characters much as the whole movie is just too "busy."

I've only seen 3 films off his list and 4 from Andy's, though was unimpressed by 2 of them.
Of the one's I haven't seen, I'd rather watch the ones on John's list.
This is the most difficult one so far.
Both of these lists contain some great films.
I have to vote for Evan Case because the inclusion of Raiders of the Lost Ark and The General sways me slightly in favour of his list.

Though he has a couple of films on his list that I'm not crazy about, the majority are ones I really like.
The few on Steeve's list I have seen are not bad (except for the Ridley Scott one), but not as impressive to me personally as the ones on Matt's list.
