Brian,
I've got 2 MCA 20's and 1 MCA 30 with my AVM. I absolutely love it. I've heard a lot about how different amps sound with different speakers, so that may play into your decision, but I'm running my setup with a bunch of Paradigm (center and side surrounds) and PSB speakers (front and...
I tend to agree that no sub will route the LFE to the mains (but I'm guessing, so I'll await confirmation from Michaels testing:) ).
As an aside, I'm pretty sure that if you have a sub and your AVM-20 has the sub set to "Super" as mine is set, then your LFE channel is routed to both the sub...
Oops, I figured it out. When you turn on "DVD" or whatever you've got it set to in zone 2 it flips the trigger which flips the FOGG. When you turn OFF "DVD" or whatever you have it set to, it again flips the trigger which again flips the FOGG. All the while you're still listening to 6 Channel in...
Hi Mike, Just thought I'd chime in to help you out (I hope). When your zone 2 trigger turns on your switchbox, that's all it does (well, all it's going to do, since you have no output to zone 2). All it is doing is enabling the switchbox to use the other 6 channel input. zone 2 will think...
Hi Sri,
Welcome to the club. When you're listening to your "rear" speakers, are you in a "7.1" mode such as DD-EX or DTS-ES or Anthem Logic etc? If you're not in a "7.1" mode and you're only listening in a 5.1 mode, you won't get any sounds from the rears. That's probably not the problem, but...
Geez, all these problems are depressing. It's so much more enjoyable to be able to just sit and enjoy the music!!:) I truly hope you guys get your problems sorted out soon so that you too can go back to simply listening to and enjoying the sweet sweet sounds and music.
Michael, you have the...
Michael, so I should take the VU Meters to the maximum setting short of distortion? Does that mean audible distortion or anything on the + side of 0.0?
A curiosity....... During a little break from work, I was reading the online AVM20_lit.pdf file and noticed something there that I've not seen on my '20 (probably I've just never used it so I've never seen it), but on the 6th page of the brochure, it says under "Matching Volume Differences" that
A quick question Michael, and then I'm off for daddy duties, a 1:00 AM baby feeding. How do you use your triggers with 5 separate amps?? Can you daisy chain the triggers??
Miguel,
I was just re-reading your earlier post as I was thinking that possibly you should consider a room treatment to remove your overly bright or harsh sound, but then I realized that you've indicated that some movies and CD's sound "AMAZING" while there are some that leave you wanting...
Miguel,
it'll be fun to try out different amps and get a feel for how they work in your setup.
A couple of suggestions for you, in addition to the myriad of choices you'll be able to audition (parasound, B&K, McIntosh, maybe Levinson or Arcam or Monoblocks[Marantz ones???] like Michael)...
Michael, I am addressing this question to you since you've previously owned a Lexicon. Notwithstanding that, I'd welcome the opinion of anyone else on this. I'm just wondering how the AnthemLogic Music mode compares to anything similar from Lexicon. The reason I ask is simply curiousity as...
I wasn't thinking that a dealer might be trying to pull a fast one, I was just thinking more along the lines of they've had one sitting in stock that hasn't sold (or that they forgot about) and are now trying to move it, maybe cheaper than a "new" one. That older one would still be new and still...
I was going to echo what I've just found out that Michael has said. Pretty much so long as you get a new stock unit (preinstalled with the new board). The new ones will have the logos on it which show THX ULTRA 2 and ANTHEM LOGIC MUSIC/CINEMA, as opposed to the older units (which may have had...
FWIW, I too don't ever consider used equipment (private sales) as having warranties. Through a dealer and I would have an issue (depending on the age of the item), and since my owners manual does not say anything about transfer of warranty, that thought had never crossed my mind.
In Bill's...
Oh also, in my discussions with PSB speakers, they indicated to me that if your speakers are capable of it (and they feel that the PSB Golds are capable and I'd guess that the Paradigm 100's are similar), "it's better to spread the source of the bass in the system around the room because it will...
Jason,
I'm no expert on any of these matters, but I'm running my setup similar to your inquiry so I thought I'd chime in with my thoughts. I don't know if you'd be 'best off with the mains set to Large and the sub set to Super' as there *may* be some issues with the way the Bass is managed...
Evan, Where you there on the 11th to watch the fabulous (if underfunded) Edmonton Oilers lay a 5:4 licking on the Laffs?? I, for one, being a huge Oiler fan, thought it was a great game. Sorry for the extreme off topic guys. Back to Anthem!!
Congrats Mike, When I ordered my AVM20, the Silver was backordered in my part of the country (Western Canada). From reading other posts, it appeared that Black ones were backordered in other parts of the country (Eastern USA). Weird. Anyway, congrats on your purchase. I look forward to...
Thanks Michael
Man you are a fast one with the software update checks. Do you have Anthem's website on your screen at all times??:D
Thanks for the heads up, and while I expect it's mostly the same as the beta I've got, I'll be loading it in this evening!! Can't wait!!
Miguel, My center too is on the carpet. It's really horrid there!! I've managed to build a small "raise" for the front of it to elevate it so that it's firing more in line with my ears when we're sitting on the sofa. It's MUCH better. When I eventually go to a 16:9 screen permanantly, then...
Mike, I tried your "password defeat" trick. I can get the Menu to come up using your zone 2 power up, but I cannot do ANYTHING in the Menu and then the screen reverts back to the video image since no actions have been taken. So I think that the password function IS working, it just "appears"...
