I am surprised there isn't more condemning on this board of the move by Disney against an Oscar-winning Best Picture. Complain, loudly, or this will be the wave of the future. Guaranteed.
Here's the best summary of it, the earliest spotting of the edit was on May 12 at a theatrical screening (which would be supplied by Disney): https://hollywood-elsewhere.com/french-connection-refresher/
Shame on Criterion Channel for showing a censored version of The French Connection. Guessing this was Disney’s doing, the bums. https://hollywood-elsewhere.com/criterions-french-connection-censorship/#:~:text=Earlier%20today%20HE%20commenter%20Benjamin,version%20of%20this%201971%20classic.
I watched The Devils last night, from the running time it appears to be the US cut. Unfortunately, it's a standard def transfer and doesn't hold up well under projection. Looking forward to checking out the Val Lewton's this month.
There's no button in the listing (and there should be), but if you hit Play, there's the little "add to list" icon at the top when it tries to start playing . At least, there is on my iPhone.
Thanks - I see the Plex app appears to work better than it does on the Roku. That's a bonus i didn't count on but will use since I've slowly been ripping my old DVD's for easy playback.
You're right, I was misreading their article about the TV service, but they do mark the ATV a "Don't Buy" and the timeline suggests an update is coming this year. But, as is always the case, I could wait forever for an update rather than enjoying what's out now. Off to see if the local Best Buy...
I'm planning on getting an ATV unit, due to the fact my Roku is old (bought it when the Warner Archive channel first launched), and the sales on iTunes movies. Almost pulled the trigger tonight until I noticed on Mac Rumors that there should be a new model released when the ATV+ service gets...
OK, that's weird. The subs disappeared on Nightfall about 30 seconds after that shot. On my iPhone, subs still there. I just tried The Lineup and the same thing, subs from the start of the movie and then they just stop abou 5 minutes in, yet they are there on the iPhone. On the Roku, it seems...
I watched Detour and Jubal via the app on a Roku last night and was pleased with the sound and visual quality of both.
I went looking and noticed that a few Paramount films - The Friends of Eddie Coyle and White Dog, among others - are not available for streaming.
Looks good so far, I do wish they'd been able to incorporate commentaries as an alternate audio track rather than a separate video feed (is it the same on the Apple TV app?)
I get that same screen on my phone when trying to watch locked content.
Here's a weird one, on the website it says I am signed up for a yearly subscription at "$9.99/year."
Logged onto the website version on my PC and it still shows the pre-launch page and no content other than the "Movie of the Week.," but it does have my correct subscription information.
