In the past, I've had good luck with the Transcend TS-RDF8W card reader. The only thing I have had to do was update the firmware on it to get the transfer speed up to snuff.
I forgot to update this thread with a new lens acquisition near Halloween, picked up a slightly used Sigma ART 85mm F/1.4 lens from a local tog I met recently. The price was too good not to pick it up. Upgraded from the older Sigma non-Art 85mm lens, which did me well for a good 4-5 years, but...
I picked up a clone of the Quick soupbowl / beauty dish 34" modifier from the Glow line from Adorama, I'll get a chance to test it out Memorial Day weekend at a videogame con in Atlanta.
The only GAS I might entertain is a new modifier, the 34" quick soupbowl from Cheetahstand. I have a reprieve since they are sold out of them at the moment. Was looking at the Glow Beauty Dish similar size, but instead of 16 rods, it has 8 rods, so the catch-lights don't look as round.
After processing a big batch of photos over the weekend, I don't think I'll ever be able to process photos on a small 24" monitor going forward. That 32" screen size makes for much less scrolling around when zoomed in, so it's a time-saver for me, practically speaking.
I did have to buy a 4K...
Rolled the dice on a HP Omen 32" 1440p monitor from Costco online on Cyber Monday ($250 plus tax), it should be here this Friday. I didn't go with a 4k PC monitor because my now-ancient PC (5+ years) will only display up to 2560x1600 if the specs on the old video card are to be believed. Hope...
I've been upgrading my lighting from speedlights (some Neewer TT850 manual ones) to the Godox AD600BM strobes that come with a built-in battery pack (so they are heavier on lightstands) and has HSS capability, so it's been fun to be able to crank up the power and still get thinner DoF for sunny...
Do the pouches allow for the CF card's plastic case to also slip inside each card pouch? For some reason, I'm weirded out by CF cards alone in each pouch. :)
I just don't know if it's any better than my current option, so I'm reticent to drop $50 on it, but that nagging itch always seems to need to be scratched...
Anyone here strobist-enough to try some of the wacky light modifiers for the on-the-go tog? As a convention tog (usually of cosplayers), going light and wandering around is the operative strategy, but light from speedlights tends to be hasher unless it has a modifier on it, but as the size of...
If I had $3k that I had to spend on a lens, I'd rather get the Canon EF 24-70mm F/2.8 MKII, and take a short road trip vacation with the remainder of the $3K... LOL!
I guess the selling point for the new 11-24mm lens is that it's a rectilinear lens, so less work in post to straighten out lines in photos shot with this lens.

I need some GAS in my life, right now, haven't really found myself intrigued by anything out there (that doesn't cost a left kidney from South America)... Just don't want to do the mirrorless dance yet, so I'm avoiding that segment of photography gear for now.
Oh, mine showed up yesterday too, but I'd already owned it (I had 2 EOS M cameras a year ago, ended up selling the one with the EFM 18-55 kit lens to an artist friend who needed a small camera to shoot reference photos for his work), so I know about the build quality of the lens, good price for...
A friend had the EFM 11-22mm lens to go along with his EOS M, and he enjoyed shooting it, but ended up selling off the whole kit and kaboodle (he regularly switches out of camera systems wholesale, and rarely loses money from it, somehow).
I'd only spend up to maybe $135-$150 for the EFM...
The 17-40mm (and 16-35mm) on a FF body is close in field of view to the EFM 11-22mm on a crop body, so it's similar in that respect. I don't really like using the EF to EFM adapter to slap on other EF lenses, so I rarely do so, just too awkward to shoot with if the lens is really long. Heh...
Ebay, from foreign sellers, the EFM 11-22mm can be had for around $370, but still too rich for me. I'd just slap on my old EF 17-40 if I need the wide angle shot, but still would be nice to have a compact solution at times.
