My first "serious" camera: Looking for thoughts on Canon EOS Rebel T2i or better

Canon did this sort of thing on the G-series as well (I think people sought after the G9 after the G10 showed up without some features that made the G9 more attractive.

My first "serious" camera: Looking for thoughts on Canon EOS Rebel T2i or better

It's funny, I love my articulating LCD screen on my point-n-shoot A6xx Canons, but the thought is trying to hold a 60D steady at some funny angle while using the articularing LCD screen leaves me cold. I think there's a point of diminishing returns due to the weight/balance/steadiness of larger...

My first "serious" camera: Looking for thoughts on Canon EOS Rebel T2i or better

At least you'll have the Nikon warranty to help in getting such a situation remedied. Hot pixels can happen, but they aren't usually deal-breakers, more like minor annoyances (unless they are in prominent position near the center of the frame). I just didn't want you to waste your Onecall...

Don't lose 10 days of your return window waiting on SDHC cards, buy a cheap 2GB card and test the D90''s sensor, look for hot spots, and other operational uses of the camera. Or at least use the SD card that should come with the D90 and take photos right away (again, buy a cheap card from any...

Just buy a battery grip, like the Canon BG-E8, and slap in 2 battery packes or 6 AA batteries, that'll make the T2i feel like a bigger camera. I did that with my XSi, and it balanced the body with the lens fairly well, and it makes it easier to snap photos in portrait mode since the battery...

My first "serious" camera: Looking for thoughts on Canon EOS Rebel T2i or better

I think there are new digital cameras that allow you to tap the LCD screen to focus on the area of the screen being tapped or touched upon. Of course, you burn up your batteries using the LCD screen in that manner, but you get the idea, there are some crazy features built into today's digital...

My first "serious" camera: Looking for thoughts on Canon EOS Rebel T2i or better

The main question is: How much crap are you willing to carry with you to get good photos? I went dSLR last year, but I still use a Canon A650 for the quick snapshot type of shots if I don't want to be weighted down by a lot of photo gear, and that A650 can be carried on my hip in a belt bag...
