ESPN showed a clip from Big Ben last year on the topic of wearing helmets while riding a motorcycle, and his stance was if it wasn't against the law, then he'd continue to not wear a helmet while riding. Idiot. He's probably young and dumb enough to think that he's a good rider/driver...
On the Sports Reporters, they made a good point that Leinart ending up in Arizona has him surrounded by some good wide recievers, and the Edge in the backfield. The question mark will be the offensive line protection. But it's a team on the upswing. It may still work out for him in the long run.
Who were the other bad teams in 2005 (besides the 49ers) that would have had a shot at drafting Leinart? With all the big money signing bonuses, the NFL doesn't have a cultivation atmosphere when it comes to QBs anymore. It's play now, and if you get crushed (a la Alex Smith, or David Carr)...
It probably came down to "signability" of Mario over Reggie for the Texans. Some draft "experts" have likened Mario to a Reggie White type of defensive lineman.
Bryan Scott was a bust at safety, so off he goes, and Gandy is getting up there in age (35, I think), so each team got rid of someone that wasn't going to fit in with their plans for 2006. The radio talk show guys on 680 the Fan loved the deal, I am simply lukewarm about it.
