Star Trek III and Star Trek VI focused on Klingons a lot, and they were both pretty good. Before Nemesis came out, I heard rumours that it would be about a peace treaty between the federation and the Romulans, and I was intrigued. I thought a whole a movie about how that happened (and the...
Someone who truly respects those characters would not direct a story that features younger versions of them. I cringe at the thought of young actors trying to emulate Shatner and Nimoy. Even the best young actors working today could not make reinterpreting those classic characters end up being a...
It shocks me that someone would rank the "Star Trek: The Motion Picture" over "Star Trek: First Contact". "The Wrath Of Khan" or "The Voyage Home" I could understand, but Star Trek 1? Perhaps I should see this "Director's Cut". The comments about it in this thread have got me curious.
I think there's been a bit of overrating and underrating in the last few posts. While I agree that the TNG movies were disappointing, I believe that the best of all the Star Trek movies was one of those - Star Trek: First Contact. Yes, Star Trek II is awesome and Star Trek IV is wonderfully...
I doubt the cast will live that long. Patrick Stewart even joked that if they do the next one in 2007 (which is the likely starting time for it), he won't even be able to get out of the captain's chair by then. I interpret that as joking about how old he'll be and how old he already is, but in...
I think a lot of people would be against Ang Lee doing Star Trek, after many disliked his interpretation of Hulk. It seems like critics enjoyed it, but for the most part, the fans of the character (who I think are the people it's most important for comic book adaptation filmmakers to please)...
Since the end of Nemesis is basically a poor man's version of the ending to "Wrath Of Khan", maybe the next TNG movie could be a "The Search For Spock" for our era, only this time it's "The Search For Data"? Maybe they can find his exploded remains in space and put him back together? :) But...
Some people are so arrogant and deluded that they lack the ability to honestly assess themselves and fail to recognize the flaws in their work. It's like a mental illness.
That new android was a silly idea. Just throwing away all the progress made by the character's development over seven seasons, to replace him with a "baby Data". I was talking to a Star Trek fan after Nemesis who told me that the ending was a cop-out, and that if they're going to kill Data, they...
I believe this single scene justified Data's emotion chip. It's one of the coolest scenes in one of my favourite movies, and its dialogue couldn't have been written if it wasn't for the emotion chip. But I'll admit, a lot of the scenes in the movies and TV show where it was significant were weak.
Giving actors power hasn't always been a bad thing in Star Trek's history, it just depends on the actor. I saw Leonard Nimoy say he was promised a "great death scene" before he was willing to go through with the Spock death, and he agreed to play Spock again (after Star Trek II) on the condition...
It was called "Data's Day" and was an episode in which (through voiceover) Data keeps a diary of what happens and what he thinks of everything during one day, which he will later send to researchers that wish to study him and his life. He was learning to dance for the wedding of Chief O'Brien.
I think that woman is very overrated. I never found her very attractive, and believe that the best-looking woman ever in the Star Trek universe was Gates Mcfadden. The makeup on she and Marina Sirtis was a little overdone on the show, but otherwise, she always looked great. I like the scene in...
