I think the TNG actors have to much say in these movies. They were hired for their acting not their story telling. I'm all for a Capt. April movie. I just want it set in TOS general time frame before the movies. I want a retro TOS look.
There will be no Academy days. Its going to be first voyages of Kirk & Spock after the Pike & Spock era. Plus now they are talking about Shatner & Nimoy having parts so it could be a flashback. But I just read they are trying to find a way to bring Kirk back because he's still dead or in the Nexus.
You can include fans like me who kept on watching but wouldn't last full seasons because nothing comes close to TOS. The sad part is I still went to the last three movies hoping :frowning:. I'm re-energized now that there's a regime change.
The way I see it, its either a one shot movie or a movie franchise. If it fails they move on. If it succeeds then those few movies could easily fit in before Kirks first appearance in the TOS. As long as it has the same retro look & feel.
Instead of reimaging Kirk & co. Would anyone be willing to see a series or movie based on the adventures of Captain Christopher Pike on Enterprise with the young Spock? Just like in the first pilot.
Brad, I agree where do they go if its a hit. Will they be forced to re-image Star Trek. How many movies can they fit in between the movie & the series. Are they going to have a retro look. JJ Abrams has a big task ahead of him. Maybe the studio doesn't care, they just want to put ST back on the...
From surfing around the Trek forums, I feel there's a large group of Trekkers out there that could care less about TOS & that whole period. Its seems the main complaints are its to cheap looking, hokey (i.e. the red shirts always die) the Special Effects are poor etc. etc. There also seems to be...
I hope we get a complete reboot or the Next Generation after Next Generation. I do not care to see a Star Fleet Acadamy prequel crap. I can't stand prequels anymore, it messes up my vision of the characters past. I know this is going to piss off many here & it most likely will never happen, but...
I'm trying to understand this. Its ok to recast James Bond, Superman, Batman, Obiwan Kenobi, etc etc etc. but its not ok to recast Captain James T. Kirk, Please explain why?
The question is, is this a one shot movie or will they continue into the future & throw out all that came before it? Essentially starting from scratch.
I wasn't old enough for TOS. I became a fan in the 70s with the reruns. So that wasn't really wasn't my Generation. Then in the 80s I was 21 when TNG came out so was that my Generation? It really doesn't matter what Generation when I know I liked TOS better.
