The Billy Joel "Goodnight Saigon" song skit appeared to have the whole cast plus musical and special guests joining in, including those mentioned above, Anne Hathaway, Amy Poehler, and probably more that I didn't catch. The skits that NBC has from last night are the Funeral, Jeopardy...
Unfortunately the website mentioned in the skit http://www.toughbastard.org/ only goes to NBC's main SNL site. I was quite surprised by Phoenix, they were quite good.
The Rock Obama was one of the better sketches this season. Good synergy with the guest. It is already online at Saturday Night Live - The Rock Obama - Video - NBC.com I did not recognize Jessica Biel as Jessica Rabbit at all.
Neil Patrick Harris did a reasonable job this weekend. The way the opening monologue was going, I thought that Fred Savage was going to be in the SNL audience instead of regulars doing lame "How I Met Your Mother" jokes.
This past SNL's opening on Blagojevich was quite humorous and Hugh Laurie's opening was great. There were some bright spots in some of the other skits and some good Weekend Update moments as well. And that's it for Amy Poehler on SNL.
I enjoyed it for the most part. I do have a question about the show - the fake ad for the jar glove. I know I have seen that before on the show. Or at least one very similar. Does anyone know if that really was reused or was it slightly changed in some way?
That must have been it. She had been rehearsing with her until Friday. So, they had to make some last minute changes. Having Coldplay do another song was a quick fix. I thought they did a good job of using Jon Hamm. The first Mad Men skit was good until the A-holes arrived. I wish they had...
The Weekend Update Thursday was great last night. A beautiful opening debate skit and lots of good Weekend Update pieces including a sequence on the recent AIG news that everyone who heard about it knew had to be there. Really! If you missed it, NBC has the whole show and segments on their website.
Nikki Finke has an interesting article about the skit with the edited version imbedded. I believe both of The Killers songs are from their upcoming album, Day & Age. If you go to their website at The Killers the first song that was played - their first single from the album - "Human", plays.
